In the early hours of December 15, 2025, former President of the United States Barack Obama wrote an emotional tribute to Rob, who shot to stardom after starring in the classic sitcom "All in the Family."
"Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele," Barack shared on X, formerly Twitter. "Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action."
The 44th POTUS continued, "Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them."

According to multiple outlets, including CNN, Rob's son, Nick, was arrested and charged with murder. Nick is the middle child of the Hollywood power couple. The screenwriter was booked on Monday, December 15, and is being held on a $4 million bond.

Rob, who directed the film, previously admitted that working on the project helped him see his son's struggles in a different light. "... it forced me to have to see more clearly and understand more deeply what Nick had gone through, and I think it forced him to see things that I had experienced during this process," he said.
"The whole process for me – I can just speak for myself – it did make me understand him a lot more, and it did make me a better father. Hopefully it did," he added.
