Hollywood was left reeling after the shocking deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, whose Brentwood home quickly became the center of a growing homicide investigation.
As news spread, close friends quietly arrived at the scene, including Billy Crystal and Larry David. What they encountered behind those doors clearly left a mark.
According to witnesses, emotions ran high, and Crystal was seen leaving visibly shaken, a moment that showed the deep personal loss behind the headlines.
Rob Reiner’s Brentwood Home Becomes A Crime Scene

The deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele sent shockwaves through Los Angeles after their bodies were discovered inside their Brentwood home on Sunday.
The Reiner family confirmed the devastating news in a statement saying, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
According to a report from The Blast, firefighters were first dispatched to the actor’s residence at 3:30 p.m. following a medical aid call.
At the time, the deceased were only identified as a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, with what appeared to be knife wounds.
Property records later confirmed the home belonged to Reiner.
Officials stated during a press conference that no suspect had been identified and no one was in custody.
Billy Crystal And Larry David React At Rob’s Home

As investigators worked the scene, Rob Reiner’s longtime friends Crystal and David arrived separately at the Brentwood property.
According to a neighbor who spoke to ABC7 in Los Angeles, both comedians stayed briefly before leaving. Crystal, however, appeared especially affected.
The neighbor said the actor “looked like he was about to cry” as he departed the home, a detail that quickly spread across Hollywood and social media.
Rob and his wife reportedly lived in the home, while another property across the street housed one of their daughters and her children.
Rob Reiner’s Decades-Long Bond With Billy Crystal

Crystal’s grief is rooted in a friendship that began nearly 50 years ago.
The 77-year-old and Ro first met on the set of “All In The Family” in 1975, where they were cast as best friends. That on-screen chemistry quickly turned into a lifelong bond.
In a 2016 column for The Hollywood Reporter, Crystal reflected on how naturally their friendship formed.
He wrote, “It worked really well, and we said, ‘It feels right onstage, why don’t we just continue this in our lives?’”
The star added, “We became the closest of friends. And when I moved out here, we just spent all kinds of time together.”
Their collaboration reached iconic status when Rob directed Crystal in the 1989 classic “When Harry Met Sally,” written by Nora Ephron and co-starring Meg Ryan.
Crystal later recalled sitting beside his friend during the film’s first screening, writing, “We just grabbed each other’s hands because we knew something exciting was about to happen with this movie.”
Inside Rob’s Successful Career In Hollywood

Up until his demise, Rob Reiner maintained a multifaceted, successful career.
He first rose to national prominence in the 1970s, winning two Emmy Awards and getting five Golden Globe nominations for his role as Michael "Meathead" Stivic in the groundbreaking sitcom “All in the Family.”
Following his acting success, the icon moved behind the camera and made his directorial feature debut with the cult classic mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap” in 1984.
He subsequently directed many critically and commercially successful films throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, including “Stand by Me,” “The Princess Bride,” “Misery,” and the Oscar-nominated “A Few Good Men,” earning three Directors Guild of America nominations for his work.
Additionally, Rob co-founded the production company Castle Rock Entertainment, which was responsible for hits like “Seinfeld” and “The Shawshank Redemption.”
Rob Reiner’s Family History Reveals Personal Struggles Behind The Legacy

One of Rob’s most personal projects came from his son Nick Reiner.
In 2016, the Hollywood legend directed “Being Charlie,” a semi-autobiographical film written by Nick and inspired by his repeated rehab stays.
Speaking about the movie in a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Nick recalled, “I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas.” He added, “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
The 32-year-old noted that at the time “Being Charlie” was released, he hoped to stay off drugs to avoid battling homelessness again.
It appears that Nick did put his life in order and remained clean. However, nearly a decade after the film was released, the actor is being interrogated by the police as the prime suspect in his parents’ murder.
