A New Magical Experience Just Opened Up In Las Vegas

The Magicians Room, located at the LINQ Promenade on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, is a first-of-its-kind magic speakeasy that promises to wow guests in unique ways.

The new venue, created and operated by Las Vegas-based Pompey Entertainment, takes guests on a magical journey like no other. By day, The Magicians Room is family friendly. And in the evenings, it’s adults only.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a magician dazzling crowds beside a light pole on The LINQ Promenade. Stepping inside, they’re drawn into a claw-machine arcade where prizes await the lucky. Hidden toward the back of the arcade is a subtle doorway guiding guests upstairs into the mysterious space where the magic unfolds.

"We're hidden behind the Lucky Rabbit Vegas, so we believe that part of the magic, the allure of magic, is the fact that you're entering into a world that is somewhat secretive, and somewhat, you have to be a believer," Costa told The Blast. "In order to find us, you have to be in on the secret and believe that venturing through this claw game arcade is going to bring you to where you're going to see some of the most grand shows put on."

'All Magic, All The Time'

When asked to sum up The Magicians Room in just a sentence or two, Costa told The Blast, "All magic, all the time."

"We have the best magic available," he continued. "We have the greatest talent available, kind of accumulated into one home for magic, and that's the first time this has ever happened in Las Vegas."

Costa said the idea for The Magicians Room came to be because "it kind of needed to happen."

"It's a progression that one should expect. You have a comedy club and you have some music venues and you have any of these great venues that celebrate a skill set or a craft that is somewhat relatable," Costa said. "Those that are performing in The Magicians Room is of the best caliber in the world. The inspiration is really the magicians and the fascination that the audience has with being up close and personal to the magicians."

While opening a new concept often comes with obstacles, one obstacle that Costa said he was thankful didn't happen was getting the "greatest magicians in the world" to perform at The Magicians Room.

The Magicians Room Is An Intimate Space Where Guests Can See Magic Up Close

The space is smaller than some might expect when walking into a magic show venue, and that's part of the allure. Because it's a smaller space than many magicians are used to, they had to adjust things a bit.

"In the next couple of months or years, we do actually see the showroom looking to evolve. A lot of feedback coming from these fantastic magicians and illusionists and we see that the venue will take on a few little tweaks," Costa said. "We usually leave space for that feedback from talent when we open a new space. This has really been a special time to be able to do the shows themselves."

Born in Luxembourg, Europe, magician David Goldrake found a love for magic at a young age. He discovered magic at the age of 8 and turned professional at 24. He's been touring all over the world doing shows, had a residency at the Tropicana in Las Vegas from 2017 until the pandemic hit, and is currently calling The Magicians Room home.

"Damian and I have been talking about the concept for a while, a few years ago already. He explained his vision to me and I liked the concept a lot. This year in February, when I was in Paris, he called me again and said, 'Hey, we have the room, we're ready to launch this. Are you in?'" Goldrake told The Blast.

"After he described his concept to me, the whole vision, I decided to be a part of it because I think it's pretty unique to have a room that is uniquely dedicated to magic, especially in Vegas."

More About What You Can Expect From David Goldrake's Magic Show

Goldrake said his show is unique in the sense that grand illusions are typically performed on a large stage, and The Magicians Room stage is much smaller.

"We have a more intimate stage, which is a challenge to start with, but becomes an asset in the sense that you can create an experience that the audience really sees from up close," he told The Blast. "They can see my assistant levitate from barely 10 feet away and people walk up to me after the show and they're like, we've seen this on bigger stages, we've seen you do it in different theaters, but this close, how?"

Goldrake said people think that there are gimmicks involved or the tricks are high tech because of the small environment, but he said he does "grand illusion on a smaller scale."

"We have an underwater escape. I'm the only performer on the Strip to do that. We have an actual water tank on the stage that I escape from every night," he continued. "And the rest of the magic, when it's not grand illusion, is very interactive. We have some poetic magic, very inspirational magic I call it, with a message. That's what most of my magic has always been about."
