Inside Meghan King’s New Custody Deal With Ex Jim Edmonds And When She Will Have The Kids

Meghan King has come to an agreement regarding the battle for her kids. 

The reality TV personality and her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds, have been embroiled in a custody battle for their three kids, Aspen, Hart, and Hayes. 

King and Edmonds got married in 2014, but their love soon turned sour, and they went their separate ways in 2019, before finalizing their divorce in May 2021. 

King and Edmonds were set to appear before a judge this month regarding custody arrangements. However, the former lovers were able to reach an agreement before their court date. 

According to US Weekly, King has agreed to allow Aspen, 9, and the 7-year-old twins, Hart and Hayes, to live full-time with her ex-husband. Edmonds will now have primary custody of the children, and they will reside in Tennessee. 

Meanwhile, an insider close to the story has revealed that King will be allowed to have the children for a few weeks every summer. 

This update comes after King temporarily lost full custody of her children earlier this year. The decision to take the TV personality’s kids away from her was made when a school official made a call that prompted an investigation by Child Protective Services. 

Before the former couple reached an agreement regarding the custody of their children, Edmonds threw his 9-year-old daughter, Aspen, a huge birthday party. 

The Blast reported that the former baseball player put together a lavish celebration for Aspen, which included lavish decorations, an extravagant cake, pink balloons, and other party accessories.

He shared some footage from the party on Instagram, and Aspen appeared to have been showered with lavish gifts, including a brand-new Labubu toy. 

Although it was unclear if King was at the party, she took to Instagram to wish her daughter a happy birthday, writing, “A spectacular gift from God was born 9 years ago today. When I learned what love is. I love you, Aspen King Edmonds. I love you to infinity. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.” 

Shortly after Aspen’s birthday, Edmonds celebrated Thanksgiving with his three children and new wife, Kortnie.

He shared an update on Instagram, showing wholesome moments with his family, while King was noticeably absent. 

The Blast reported that the 41-year-old reality star spent the holiday alone, as the custody battle was still on at the time.

She was said to have been granted only supervised visits, while the children were scheduled to stay with Edmonds and Kortnie in Tennessee for Thanksgiving.

King initially lost custody of her children when she opted to administer unprescribed medication to one of her twin sons, as reported by The Blast. 

The model allegedly instructed the school nurse to administer Ritalin, an ADHD medication, to her son. However, there was no official diagnosis that confirmed he had an attention disorder. As such, the school nurse promptly informed the authorities, who called Child Protective Services. 

This led to the decision to remove King’s children from her care temporarily, and she was only allowed to see them twice a week. 

Before that, she was also involved in an incident in Edmond’s home when she went to drop a dress off for her daughter. Kortnie accused King of incessantly ringing the doorbell and demanding to see her daughter. On the other hand, King denied any wrongdoing and accused her ex-husband’s wife of bullying and harassing her. 

Following the incident, Kortnie was granted a restraining order against King. 

As King and Edmonds’ custody case raged on, King received support from her “Real Housewives of Orange County” co-stars.

During a fundraiser held in November, Emily Simpson spoke of King's custody battle and pleaded with the public to refrain from making rushed judgments about the case. 

She drew from her own experience, saying, "I have a lot going on with [my son] Luke, whom I have had for six months, and I would hate for someone to judge anything going on. I don't know the circumstances. I don't know the facts of this situation, so I don't want to speculate and make a judgment,” per The Blast.

Gina Kirschenheiter similarly voiced the same thoughts, saying that no one knows the full details of the situation; as such, no one should comment on it.
