Megyn Kelly Uses Ariana Grande To Call Out Hollywood’s ‘Dangerously Thin’ Trend

Kelly took direct aim at the entertainment industry, saying it has become something people should not admire or emulate.

Sitting down with novelist Andrew Klavan, the journalist used Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as her main examples while criticizing dramatic weight loss among celebrities.

Kelly said, “This industry is not to be admired, certainly not emulated.” She then pointed to the singer’s recent appearance and added, “She is very clearly anorexic. If she’s 90 pounds, it’s a lot. She looks like you could snap her in two with your fingers.”

The 55-year-old continued discussing the pair’s behavior during “Wicked” interviews, saying, “And [Grande’s] having some sort of weird, I don’t know what it is… sexual? I don’t know, relationship with a they/them, her co-star Cynthia Erivo who also looks dangerously thin.”

She also mentioned withdrawing her podcast from Golden Globe consideration as she expressed disappointment in Hollywood trends.

Ariana Grande has been at the center of online discussions for months, with many social media users expressing worry over her appearance during the "Wicked" press tour.

These conversations resurfaced after Kelly’s comments. Online critics shared photos and videos with dramatic before-and-after comparisons and even urged studios to “release the Wicked files.”

One person wrote, “Cynthia looked strong before,” while another stressed, “Ariana has always been a small and petite girl, BUT THIS IS NOT NORMAL.”

Even Michelle Yeoh’s weight loss was noted by fans, with one user saying, “Michelle Yeoh scares me the most because this isn’t even a crazy huge role for her.”

People pointed out the pattern, with one comment reading, “One is odd, two is a coincidence, three is a pattern.”

Grande herself recently spoke out about this painful scrutiny. In a December 5 interview, she said through tears per the Daily Mail, “I’ve heard every version of it – of what’s wrong with me. And then you fix it, and then it’s wrong for different reasons.”

She added that comments about how women look are “not invited” and said she no longer leaves space for that kind of criticism.

Ariana Grande Pushes Back, Saying Past Photos Showed Her ‘Unhealthiest’ Self

Grande has repeatedly explained that her appearance has changed because she is living healthier than before.

In 2023, the “Bang Bang” singer posted a TikTok video explaining that the version of her body people believed was healthy was actually a time when she was struggling.

She said, “The body you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body.”

Grande added that she had been drinking, eating poorly, and taking many antidepressants during that period.

Meanwhile, Megyn Kelly insisted that highlighting Grande and Erivo wasn’t about them personally but about a much larger issue.

She pointed to the growing use of weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic, echoing online users who say Hollywood is full of actors suddenly becoming extremely thin.

Her goal, she said, was to warn young people not to look up to Hollywood for guidance.

Kelly closed her rant by connecting Ariana Grande’s weight debate to other troubling stories in the entertainment world.

The 55-year-old referenced comedian Andy Dick’s recent incident in which he reportedly overdosed, saying he appeared “like a homeless person.”

Her point, she said, was not to attack the actress personally but to shine a light on the darker side of fame.

Kelly stated, “My whole point in saying all this is this industry is not to be admired, certainly not to be emulated.”

She urged fans not to spend money trying to be close to celebrities or to hope their children join Hollywood.

Kelly added, “You should not aspire to have a child go into this industry, and you should never feel bad that this industry doesn’t recognize you for your life accomplishments.”

The state of Grande’s health has become more worrisome as even family members have spoken out.

A family member recently had a chat with the Daily Mail, revealing that the star’s packed schedule has made things worse.

The insider noted that Grande didn’t handle the “Wicked” press tour well, adding, “It bothered her a lot – from the red carpet incident [in which a man rushed her] to what people were saying about her online. She can be very thin-skinned, and people commenting on how skinny she is was really troubling to her.”

According to the source, the “Sam and Cat” actress is now battling anxiety and crippling exhaustion.
