The world is slowly, but surely opening back up again and that means star-studded events are in full swing. The Cannes Film Festival is one of those events. Not only is this the world’s biggest red carpet event but the festival is celebrating its 75th year. however, this is just another reason for style devotees to step out in their absolute best and actually want to get photographed. The dress code is strict at the festival so that means ball gowns and high-end tuxedos. That’s no problem for the celebrities that attend and the designers who offer up free services just to get their gorgeous fashions seen.
The Red Carpet Did Not Disappoint
In 2020, the festival took place, but it was not the big event that people were used to. The red carpet events were canceled and there were no parties because let’s face it the Coronavirus Pandemic really put a damper on the year. But the events are back on and the festival is ready to offer up a few different aspects. The jury includes a few new faces including director Mati Diop, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mélanie Laurent, and Tahar Rahim. Naturally, the fashion was going to be to dye for. Gyllenhaal was a stunner in a Celine gown with a sweetheart neckline. The chiffon fabric sweeps the floor lightly. The ever-different actress topped the stunning champagne-colored gown off with a cape held up by a soft lace choker. Need we say more?
Not To Be Outdone
Not to be outdone, fellow jury member Laurent walked the red carpet in a two-piece Armani Privé full-length skirt and tuxedo-style vest. She bares her shoulders and even flashes a little bit of lower back. The jury members were not the only ones who are dominating the red carpet. Actor Jessica Chastain who usually stands out in a crowd because of her bright red hair and pale soft skin made sure her gown stood out. The Molly’s Game star wore a stunning black lace gown designed by Dior Haute Couture. The gown allows you to see the bones of the dress and it oddly enough settles on Chastain’s skin like it was meant to live there.
Models & Actors Unite
Vampire diaries actor Kat Graham utilized bold prints. She stunned in an Etro strapless gown as she celebrated the return of the popular event. The print featured swirls of green and white and featured a low back. In one photo, she gives the camera a coy look back to make sure they get the full gown. Model Candice Swanepoel threw tradition out the door and opted for a bodysuit made by Etro. The tall blond understands the assignment when it comes to owning a red carpet so while she may not be an actor, she can hang with the best here.
Oh… The Guys Too
Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten about the fellas. They too showed up to the opening ceremony ready to impress, one of the notable standouts was writer/director Spike Lee who posed for a few photos in a fuchsia Louis Vuitton suit. He accessorized with his usuals a hat, sneakers, and sunglasses to block the haters. Only this time, the sunglasses matched the suit. Big Bang Theory Simon Helberg wore an interesting suit color to the Annette film premiere, a bluish-green. The festival, which began on July 6 and runs until July 17, will have so many more gorgeous outfits to ogle at in the coming days.
