Gene Simmons Stuns Viewers With Awkward On-Air Question

Simmons’ interview took an unexpected turn in its final minutes after he interrupted the Scripps News anchor’s closing remarks with a strange question.

After receiving congratulations on his recent Kennedy Center Honors reunion with rock band KISS, Simmons asked Georgiou, “By the way, are you still modeling?”

The anchor, caught off guard but smiling, replied, “What?” The musician repeated, “Are you still modeling?”

Georgiou politely clarified, “Modeling? I — I don’t model, sir.” Simmons feigned surprise, responding, “Oh, I assumed….”

The brief, seemingly flirtatious exchange left the anchor momentarily speechless, though she remained professional and ended the segment by noting she “appreciated” his time.

Before things went off track, Gene Simmons had been speaking passionately about the American Music Fairness Act, a bill that would require radio corporations to pay artists royalties when their songs are played on air.

The KISS legend called it an “injustice” that musicians received nothing from the billions radio stations earned every year.

He explained that radio made nearly $14 billion in the past year from playing artists’ music, while those performers earned nothing in return.

Simmons was optimistic about bipartisan support for the bill, saying, “We are going to pass this bill. It is bipartisan.”

He expressed confidence that Congress would “do the will of the people,” citing a poll showing that 70% of Americans wanted the unfair system fixed.

Earlier in the week, he even testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, where he mixed serious advocacy with his trademark humor, including a deadpan remark advising young musicians to “have a fallback position.”

Simmons’ recent interview comes two months after the rock legend Gene was involved in a frightening crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Reports revealed that at around 1 p.m. on October 7th, the 79-year-old’s SUV veered across several lanes before crashing into a parked car.

According to The Blast, Simmons reportedly told deputies that he lost consciousness behind the wheel, a possible medical emergency that led to the collision.

He was rushed to the hospital but was later discharged, with his wife confirming he was okay.

Following the incident, the “Forever” singer tried to downplay the situation.

“I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender,” he wrote on X. “It happens. Especially to those of us who are horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

Medical reports indicated his crash may have been related to a change in medication combined with dehydration.

Weeks after the incident, Gene Simmons fired back at what he called over‑the‑top media coverage of his Malibu car crash.

He was approached by paparazzi while trying to get into his car.

In a blunt response, the rocker dismissed the sensational headlines as “fake news.”

Simmons said the crash was nothing more than a simple “fender‑bender” and urged the public and press to calm down and focus on more important topics.

“Everybody thinks the world ended, but there are much more important things than whether I crashed my car. Everything’s fine,” he stated per TMZ.

Recently, Simmons stirred controversy after his blunt take on the death of his former bandmate Ace Frehley, saying that a string of “bad decisions” led to the guitarist’s fatal fall.

As The Blast reported, Simmons told reporters that Frehley “refused [advice] from people that cared about him – including yours truly – to try to change his lifestyle in and out of bad decisions.”

He went further, saying, “The saddest thing – you reap what you shall sow, unfortunately.”

Though Frehley’s death was ruled an accident by the medical examiner after a fall in October 2025, Simmons hinted that prior struggles with substance abuse and refusal to get help may have contributed to the tragic outcome.
