Aside from the uncomfortable situations Rhymes found himself in outside of Art Basel in Miami, the rapper had some accomplishments to celebrate in 2025, including his Rock the Bells Visionary Award at the VMAs.

According to Rhymes, receiving the award was a special feeling for him because of the hard work he's put in over the years to be labeled one of the best.

"It's one thing to have a vision when you were a fan, and you were still in single-digit age, and you was being [babysat] 'cause your mom and your dad was busting a-s to make sure you had everything you needed, and you fell in love with this thing," he said. "And you just thought one day, by the grace of God that you would get a chance to be a part of this."

Rhymes got candid when speaking about finally being given the chance to do what he loved most and making the most of his opportunity.

"... then you gotta be better than the win you secured and better than that win that you secured. So, to have these visions that are constant, and then you finally get to this place where you go from being a child to now you're pulling up to a 35-year career legacy," he said.
