In a classic example of "the horrors persist, but so do I," Seth Meyers has continued his criticism of Donald Trump, despite the president's push to have him fired.
The showdown between the 51-year-old TV presenter and the U.S. leader shows no signs of slowing down, and Meyers has now delivered another blow in response to Trump's recent award presented by FIFA.
Meanwhile, David Letterman has since shown support for Meyers amid Trump's repeated demands for his dismissal.
Seth Meyers Roasts Donald Trump Over His Obsession With Recognition
On Monday's "Late Night With Seth Meyers," the host tore into Trump's reaction to receiving a new trophy and showed a pattern of him being fixated on praise and accolades.
"Donald Trump got a fake peace prize from FIFA and said we should change the name of American football because soccer is the real football," Meyers joked, adding that Trump would have been upset if anyone else suggested it.
Meyers then cracked that the politician has spent his life "desperate" not for "human connection," but "for big old shiny awards."
He backed up the claim with old clips showing Trump complaining about titles he didn't win and bragging about ones that weren't real.
The stand-up artist also revisited Trump's infamous "The Celebrity Apprentice" moment, when Trump walked onto the stage convinced he'd won an Emmy before the actual winner was announced.
Meyers ended by suggesting FIFA gave Trump the trophy just to win his favor, saying the organization's "gambit worked perfectly because Trump was easily swayed by the Special Trophy."
How Donald Trump Has Opposed Seth Meyers Amid Their Ongoing Feud

While Trump hasn't directly addressed Meyers' latest jab, he has renewed his push for the comedian to be taken off television.
As The Blast previously reported, Trump recently gained subtle backing from FCC chairman Brendan Carr, who reposted Trump's call for Meyers' removal without comment.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform, accusing the former "SNL" writer of having an "incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome."
He doubled down on his previous criticism, calling Meyers talentless and insisting NBC should fire him immediately. Carr's quiet repost appeared to signal a nod of support for Trump's demand.
Seth Meyers Dropped His Thoughts On Donald Trump's Alleged Ties To Jeffrey Epstein

Before Trump reignited his push to have Meyers fired, the late-night host had already delivered several blows of his own.
When newly released 2011 emails from Jeffrey Epstein's correspondence mentioned Trump and referred to him as "the dog that hasn't barked," Meyers wasted no time aiming at the commander-in-chief.
According to The Blast, the comedian claimed that the surfaced texts confirm suspicions about Trump's ties with the disgraced financier.
Meyers said, "I'm no detective, but if one of the questions was, 'Did Trump know about the girls?' and you find an email from Jeffrey Epstein that says, 'Trump knew about the girls, that sounds pretty damning."
Responding to the email's comparison of Trump to a silent dog, Meyers refuted it, saying, "Of course, that was in 2011. Since then, all Trump has done is bark."
What Donald Trump Thinks Of Seth Meyers' Show

In another episode of Meyers' broadcast, he targeted the world leader over his speech last month to U.S. troops in Japan. As expected, Trump didn't stay quiet and fired back with harsh criticism of the NBC host.
The 79-year-old slammed Meyers as a "truly deranged lunatic" and "the least talented person to perform," per The Blast.
He also ranted, "Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI-TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!"
Trump even objected to Meyers' contract extension, vowing to look into why NBC would keep the host on the air through 2028.
Has Any Late-Night Host Spoken Against Donald Trump's Call For Seth Meyers' Removal?

Amid the ongoing feud between Trump and Meyers, David Letterman has stepped forward in Meyers' defense.
As The Blast reported, Letterman mocked Trump's attempt to silence the late-night host and ridiculed the idea of a president trying to fire a comedian.
"The president of the United States now wants to fire Seth Meyers, and I thought, 'This is just delightful. How do you think that's going to go?'" Letterman joked.
Letterman went on to share his thoughts about the administration, describing it as "a wonder of idiocy" and "never-ending," portraying Trump as a dictator-like figure who thrives on chaos.
