Erika Kirk's belief in the Second Amendment was called out by Perez Hilton following the widow's DealBook Conference interview.
The mother of two, whose husband Charlie Kirk was assassinated in September, shared that the U.S. gun violence issue is a human problem, not a gun problem.
However, Perez Hilton fired back at Erika Kirk with a response about how the gun safety movement is about saving as many lives as possible, safety, and common sense.
Perez Hilton Opposes Erika Kirk's View About Gun Violence

During her appearance at The New York Times DealBook Conference, Erika Kirk stated that she still supports the right to bear arms, despite the numerous problems gun access has caused in the country.
According to the widow, she believes that some individuals will always resort to violence, and there are a number of people who think "violence is the solution" when faced with an opposing view.
For her, this implied that gun violence isn't a "gun problem" but a "deeply human" "soul" and "mental" health problem.
In response to Erika's remarks, outspoken blogger Perez Hilton countered with a piece on his blog about why those who push for less gun access do so.
"The point of the common sense gun safety movement is about minimizing the likelihood and opportunities for people to carry out such tragedies. It's about saving as many lives as possible, and it's *not* about taking guns away," he said.
"It's about safety and common sense. Prevention, people! Prevention matters, and you can care about both the mental health problems AND gun safety. They are not mutually exclusive," he added.
Erika Kirk Said Forgiveness Statement For Husband's Killer Was Spontaneous

Erika revealed another surprising detail at the conference, which was about her choice to publicly forgive her husband's killer.
Speaking of that part of her speech, the mother of two said she "specifically" left it open, and all of what she said wasn't pre-planned.
"If you look at my speech notes, that part I prayed on so heavily beforehand, and that was a game-time, exact second-to-second moment," Erika said. "That was not something pre-planned. That was not because I'm not going to say something I don't truly believe."
Erika also revealed that she took a moment to pray about what to say, and the message was eventually impressed upon her heart.
"And when I prayed on it, I knew that the Lord would really press it on my heart. And if I was meant to say it because I truly meant it and believed it, then I was going to say it. But I was not going to pre-plan that," she added.
The Alleged Killer Is Allowed Not To Wear Prison Attire During His Trial, But Must Remain Shackled

Charlie's suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson, has since been charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, a violent offense committed in the presence of a child, two counts of obstruction of justice, and two counts of witness tampering.
His next hearing has been scheduled for January, after his last hearing in October, where he enjoyed a small victory after the judge allowed his request to wear regular clothes instead of coming to court in the typical jumpsuit that prisoners wear.
Robinson's lawyers argued that making him wear prison attire could cause prospective jurors to see the alleged killer as guilty from the start of the trial.
Despite this decision, the judge ordered that Robinson must remain shackled during his hearings and subsequent trial, citing the "extraordinarily serious" charges brought against him.
The TPUSA CEO Made A Controversial Comment About Career Women In New York

Elsewhere during the interview, Erika made a controversial statement about career-driven women in New York City, per Ok! Magazine.
She urged young women living in the city not to "look to the government as a solution to put off having a family or a marriage."
According to her, "relying on the government to support you" wasn't ideal; instead, women should be more about "being united with a husband where you can support yourself and your husband can support, and you can guys all combine together."
Erika then went on to share her thoughts about the driving numbers that led to the win of New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.
"I just find it so ironic and so interesting that a heavy percentage of the individuals that voted for him were female," she noted.
Erika Kirk Was Criticized Over Her Comments About NYC Women

Erika's comments about NYC women drew criticism from progressive podcaster Jennifer Welch.
Welch, who shared a video of Erika making the remarks, claimed that the mother of two is "weaponizing" her gender while being a "full-time working mother" and CEO of a company.
She called the behavior hypocritical and also slammed Erika as an "opportunistic grifter."
"You are an opportunistic grifter who weaponizes your gender to demean women, and you are a walking, talking, breathing example as to why nobody, number one, wants to be a Christian, and number two, wants to be a female hypocrite such as yourself," Welch said on her "I've Had It" podcast.
