Sydney Sweeney is putting a firm stop to the plastic surgery rumors that have followed her for years, and she’s doing it in her own blunt way.
During a recent interview, the 28-year-old picked a beauty rumor she wanted to shut down and used the moment to call out the online critics who obsess over her looks.
From denying any cosmetic work to explaining how childhood injuries shaped her face, Sweeney made it clear she’s tired of the constant scrutiny.
Sydney Sweeney Says She Has ‘Never Gotten Work Done’

During an Allure interview with her “The Housemaid” co-star, Amanda Seyfried, Sweeney chose to address ongoing claims that she has had cosmetic procedures.
When asked to debunk a “beauty rumor,” she said, “Let’s debunk them all. I mean, I have never gotten work done.”
She explained that the idea of surgery terrifies her, adding, “I am so scared of needles, you have no idea.”
The actress, who has worked in Hollywood since childhood, also called out the people on social media who compare photos of her at age 12 to recent red-carpet images.
She reminded viewers that makeup, professional lighting, and age naturally change how a person looks.
In her words, “You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting! Of course I’m going to look different.”
Sweeney didn’t hold back on how she feels about these critics either, adding, “Everybody on social media’s insane.”
Sweeney Pushes Back Against Cosmetic Talk With Amanda Seyfried

As the conversation continued, Seyfried joined in, telling Sydney Sweeney that some cosmetic procedures can be highly effective as people get older.
She began to explain more, saying, “When you do—,” before Sweeney cut in with a playful promise, “I’ll call you.”
Seyfried then teased her co-star with, “You gotta call me, and I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan, and you’ll be so excited. But you don’t need it yet.”
Their back-and-forth took a more personal turn when Sweeney revealed the real reason some people think her face appears uneven.
Agreeing with Seyfried’s comment that she didn’t need any procedures, the “Euphoria” star said, “No, also if I did, you guys, my face would be even.”
Seyfried, confused, asked, “Not necessarily. What do you mean, ‘even?’ Is it uneven?”
Sweeney then explained that a childhood wakeboarding accident required 19 stitches, leaving one eye a little more open than the other.
However, her colleague reassured her, saying she still couldn’t see it and noting that cosmetic work is not something to do casually.
Sydney Sweeney Says Critics Targeted Her Since Her Teens

Sweeney has addressed criticism about her appearance before, including in a fall interview with Variety.
She spoke about being judged long before she became a household name, saying, “I have very strong eyebrow muscles.”
According to the Hollywood star, the pressure started early, and she recalled someone telling her at age 16 to fix her face and get Botox, or else she wouldn’t succeed in the industry.
Sweeney repeated her position clearly. “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing,” she said.
The movie star also shared her long-term plan for her looks, saying she would age gracefully.

Recently, Sydney Sweeney made the headlines after her appearance on the December 1 episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” didn’t sit well with Blakeley Thornton.
As The Blast reported, the fashion critic took a sharp jab at Sweeney’s hairstyle, calling the blonde bob the “stiffest wig” he had ever seen.
In an Instagram Reel, Thornton said the look felt intentional, even political. “Why else would you go on a late-night talk show looking like Effie Trinket’s lost niece?” he shared, referencing a flamboyant character from “The Hunger Games.”
The post also criticized what he described as “MAGA-associated styling,” stirring up strong reactions online and among fans.

Hours after the video went viral, Thornton shared another reel, which featured a screenshot of an alleged comment exchange between himself and Sweeney’s longtime hairstylist Glen “Coco” Oropeza.
In the clip, Oropeza’s alleged account slammed Thornton’s remarks, saying flat-out that “it wasn’t a wig” and accusing him of being “obsessed” with her name.
He trashed the criticism as “clickbait” and “TIRED,” bashing Thornton for creating drama over a hairstyle he didn’t even craft.
Oropeza challenged the idea that a hairdo deserves this much hate.
“Imagine caring this much about a hairstyle you didn’t create and a woman who doesn’t know you exist,” he wrote.
In another reel, Thornton appeared to have responded to Oropeza’s comment, writing, “I hope you get paid overtime for being a sycophant after 9pm PST.”
