Straight No Chaser Reveal Their Dream Collaborators, And Their Answers Are Wildly Different

Straight No Chaser may have started as a college a cappella group at Indiana University, but decades later, they’ve become one of the most beloved vocal ensembles in the world, and they’re only getting bigger. With more than 2 million albums sold, 1.5 million concert tickets, and a spot in Ranker’s Top 5 A Cappella Groups, SNC continue to redefine what nine human voices can do when they blend with precision, humor, and heart. Now, the viral fan favorites are back on the road with their nationwide “Holiday Road” Tour, timed to the release of their upcoming holiday album "Holiday Road," their first full-length seasonal collection since 2020’s "Social Christmasing." And during an exclusive conversation with The Blast, Straight No Chaser showed exactly why fans adore them.

During our chat with the group, one lighthearted question sent the members into a swirl of nostalgia, laughter, and passionate debate: If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?
The answers came fast. “Frank Sinatra,” said Luke Bob Robinson without hesitation, choosing one of the most iconic American voices of all time.
Mike Luginbill followed with a pick only a true musician would call a dream pull, “Steely Dan.”
Seggie Isho jumped in next. “It would be Roy Donk,” he (half) joked.
Freedom Young delivered one of the most crowd-pleasing choices, none other than “Bruno Mars.”
And Jasper Smith rounded out the lineup with a timeless favorite, telling The Blast he would love to collab with “James Taylor.”
The Group That Changed Everything
For anyone still imagining college kids crooning in blazers and khakis, Straight No Chaser is the ultimate plot twist. The group may have begun on the Indiana University campus, but today, they’re a full-fledged musical powerhouse with two RIAA-certified Gold albums and a billion-plus streams under their belt.
Their appeal lies in their ability to elevate the art of vocal performance, no instruments, just nine voices delivering pop hits, holiday classics, and heartfelt originals with effortless charm.
They’re polished but playful, professional yet never pretentious. And audiences can’t get enough.
