Thomas Markle Loses Leg In Emergency Surgery As Meghan Stays Silent

Thomas Markle is fighting for his life after doctors were forced to amputate his left leg in an emergency operation.

The 81-year-old, who has been estranged from Meghan Markle since her 2018 wedding, underwent the intense three-hour surgery after a blood clot cut off circulation and turned his foot black.

His son, Thomas Jr, rushed him to the hospital and has been by his side as doctors warn that the next few days are critical. Meanwhile, Meghan has remained publicly silent.

Thomas Markle’s sudden health crisis began when a blood clot cut off circulation to his left foot, causing it to turn blue and then black.

Per the Daily Mail, his son Thomas Jr said, “My dad is being very brave. His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly.”

He explained that tests showed the limb needed to be removed immediately to save his life.

Thomas Jr. rushed his dad to a local hospital, but the severity of the situation led to an ambulance transfer to a larger facility in Cebu, the Philippine city where Thomas recently relocated.

At the hospital, Doctors rushed the retired Hollywood lighting director into a three-hour surgery, where they amputated his foot and lower leg.

“There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed, and it was a case of life or death,” Thomas Jr. said.

Now, doctors say he needs another procedure for a blood clot in his left thigh and are “extremely concerned” about possible infection.

According to Thomas Jr, the medical team caring for his father has been clear about the severity of the situation.

He said one doctor told him the next “two or three days are critical” as they watch closely for signs of sepsis, gangrene, or other complications.

The medical team confirmed, “The wound is healing, but the next 24 to 72 hours are critical. We need to make sure the wound heals and does not become infected.”

At 81 years old, doctors fear that even a minor setback could turn serious very quickly.

Thomas, who raised Meghan Markle from age 11 to 18 as a single parent, has been in declining health for years.

He previously suffered two heart attacks, a massive stroke in 2022 that affected his speech, and ongoing mobility issues.

Thankfully, Thomas partially regained his speech, all thanks to speech therapy.

Thomas’s relationship with Meghan changed dramatically shortly before her 2018 royal wedding.

In the week before the May 19 ceremony, Thomas decided not to attend after an arrangement with paparazzi to stage several photoshoots ahead of the big days was revealed.

Meghan entered St. George’s Chapel on her own and was later walked partway down the aisle by King Charles, something Thomas called “incredibly kind and generous.”

Since then, the relationship between father and daughter has remained broken. Thomas has never met Prince Harry, Archie, or Lilibet.

Earlier this year, he moved to Cebu, hoping for a quieter life, saying, “I was constantly reminded of my estrangement from my daughter. I could not escape her and Harry who were always on TV with their shows, books and interviews.”

The distance has not softened the emotional weight he feels, and friends say he still hopes for a chance to reconnect with Meghan someday, even as his health worsens.

As Thomas recovers from the major surgery, his son says the family has been touched by the global outpouring of support, especially from the UK.

He explained that his father is “a brave and tough man” but faces a long road ahead after the amputation and upcoming procedure on his thigh.

Thomas also appealed publicly to Meghan Markle to show compassion and move on from the past.

“I would ask everyone to keep him in their thoughts. He is a brave and tough man. I would appeal to Meghan to show him compassion at this very difficult time,” he said.

In the skit, Prince Harry played himself, pretending to audition as a “Christmas prince” for a fictional Hallmark movie titled “The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska.”

He joked it was perfect for Americans who are “obsessed with Christmas movies” and “obsessed with royalty.”

When host Colbert asked why a real prince would want that kind of role, Harry’s answer was cheeky.

“Really? I heard you elected a king,” he said, a clear jab at political headlines and a pointed nod to current events.
