Eric Dane's Estranged Wife Goes Full Throttle With Billionaire Romance Amid His Health Struggles

Eric Dane’s estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart, is enjoying every bit of her romance with billionaire Peter Morton. 

As the “Grey's Anatomy” star confronts his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) battle, Gayheart continues making headlines with her blossoming relationship.

After years of ups and downs, Gayheart and Dane quietly ended their prolonged split just before his diagnosis became public. Now, with that chapter closed, the 54-year-old actress is leaning into her future with Morton. 

The “Urban Legend” star seemed not to have any cares in the world and had her eyes only on the 78-year-old businessman as they were recently spotted outside a trendy spot in Beverly Hills.

Throughout their time together, the on-and-off couple couldn't keep their hands off each other. They shared a passionate kiss and cozied up together, according to the Daily Mail.

Gayheart stunned in a chic mini dress paired with a matching jacket, while the Hard Rock Café mogul kept things simple in an all-black ensemble.

Although this steamy date night sparked fresh buzz, their rekindled romance has been heating up for months. The pair has been spotted looking smitten on multiple occasions, including a March sighting in Los Angeles. 

They even joined Claudia Schiffer and Matthew Vaughn for a double date during the couple's L.A. trip in April 2023.

Gayheart's romantic outing with Morton comes just a day after Dane opened up about the toll ALS has taken on his mental health.

As The Blast reported, during a Giving Tuesday panel, Dane reflected on his role portraying a firefighter with ALS in “Brilliant Minds,” admitting that the hardest part was separating the character's struggles from his own real-life battle with the disease.

"I have no reason to be in a good spirit at any time, on any given day," Dane candidly shared. "I don't think anybody would blame me if I went upstairs, crawled under the sheets, and spent the next two weeks crying."

Although he acknowledged that there is little to feel joyful about, Dane said his resilience brings him strength. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness for the condition.

While Dane's mental health has not been good, Gayheart admits her own emotional journey has been just as difficult. Just last month, she opened up about how tough it has been to stay positive through everything.

"I'm just showing up and trying to be there for them. I guess time will tell," the ex-model shared on an episode of “Broad Ideas,” per The Blast.

She explained that her daughters are facing an especially heavy burden navigating their parents' separation while also witnessing their father battle a serious health condition.

For now, the mom of two is ensuring that her girls have meaningful time with their father remains her priority.

Although the pair remain separated, Gayheart has continued to stand by Dane, previously stressing that he will always be "family" and that their bond has only grown given the sad circumstances. 

According to The Blast, the “Shadow Hours” actress revealed that Dane's illness has brought them closer. Before “The Last Ship” actor disclosed his diagnosis, Gayheart had already moved to call off their long-running divorce, which she first filed in 2018.

The case had stalled for years despite both parties agreeing to terms in 2019. With no meaningful progress, the court issued a final warning in early 2025, setting a March deadline. 

Just weeks before that deadline, Gayheart officially withdrew her petition, bringing the divorce proceedings to an end.

Despite Dane’s health condition, he continues to shine on screen, with his latest film earning him accolades.

As The Blast reported, Dane’s character in the episode showed him dealing with his ALS condition and the painful challenge of sharing the news with his daughter and ex-wife.

As a seasoned firefighter, he was accustomed to being the one others relied on, but the storyline highlighted his struggle to accept help, a shift that underscored the emotional complexities of living with the neurodegenerative disease.

Fans praised Dane's raw performance, and showrunner Michael Grassi echoed the sentiment, saying, "That scene was so moving, and Eric's performance in it was so vulnerable and so beautiful."
