Tara Reid’s frightening night in a Chicago hotel is growing more complicated as police now publicly dispute her claim that she was drugged.
The actress was taken out on a stretcher after blacking out for more than eight hours, an experience she described as the scariest feeling she had ever felt.
However, new statements from authorities say surveillance video does not show anyone tampering with her drink, leaving major questions about what really happened inside the hotel that night.
Police Say Footage Shows No Tampering As Tara Reid’s Account Faces Scrutiny
Tara Reid said she completely blacked out after having a single drink while staying at the DoubleTree in Rosemont on November 23, but the Rosemont Public Safety Department says security video does not support her belief that she was drugged.
In a statement to PEOPLE, police confirmed that the 50-year-old was at the hotel bar but stated that “at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink.”
Investigators added that the bartender covered her drink when she stepped away, calling it “standard practice.”
Authorities said the case remains open while they wait for hospital records, which even Reid has not yet received.
“We cannot, however, confirm at this time if or what specific chemical testing the hospital may have conducted,” officials said, emphasizing that at the time, there was no criminal act that had been committed.
They also used the incident to remind the public never to leave a drink unattended.
Reid Insists She Was Drugged And Describes ‘Horrifying’ Hours She Cannot Recall
Despite the lack of video evidence, Tara Reid maintains she was drugged, releasing an emotional statement to PEOPLE through her representative.
“Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over 8 hours after a drink,” she said.
The “American Pie” star recalled having one glass of white wine before waking up in a hospital bed with no memory.
“That was the scariest feeling I have ever felt. I felt so helpless,” she said, adding that the ordeal had severely affected my mental health.
As The Blast reported, Reid told the authorities in her police report that a stranger introduced himself as Sean P, a very successful influencer and YouTuber.
After stepping outside with him for a cigarette and exchanging numbers, she shared that she returned to find a napkin over her drink.
Reid told police that the next thing she remembered was waking up hours later with no recollection of anything.
Disturbing Video Shows Tara Reid Barely Able To Stand As Bystanders Try To Help
On November 24, TMZ obtained footage that captured Reid in a clearly distressed state, appearing unable to stand without support.
A man held her upright while a woman fetched a wheelchair. “Give her a second,” someone was heard saying as multiple people huddled around her.
One man forcefully pulled at her coat while the man supporting the movie star raised his arm to stop him.
Once Reid was seated, she was given bottled water but spoke incoherently, slouching so far that she nearly slid out of the chair.
Moments later, she was taken away on a stretcher. Reid’s agent picked her up from the hospital, and they returned to the hotel for her belongings before she flew home to Los Angeles.
When she attempted to file a police report after returning to L.A., she said she was initially told she must be present in Illinois, where the incident occurred, but was later “allowed to file the report without having to return.”
The Stranger’s Texts And Reid’s Extortion Concern Add A New Twist
Tara Reid also told the authorities that the influencer she met that day later texted her the videos of herself the next day, something she interpreted as a potential extortion attempt.
The “Sharknado” actress claimed he told her he could stop the videos from going out.
The man also allegedly confirmed that Reid had only consumed one drink while they were together.
Meanwhile, the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport released its own statement about the incident, saying that once staff “observed a potential health concern involving a guest, our trained security team assisted and arranged for medical support.”
The hotel emphasized that guest safety was of paramount importance and that it would provide any necessary information to authorities.
Tara Reid’s Friend Gives His Account Of What Happened
Sean P., the YouTube influencer Reid mentioned, has shared his version of events, directly contradicting her claims.
According to a report from The Blast, he said he met the actress at the hotel bar late Saturday night, and they talked, exchanging contact info before she invited him outside for a cigarette.
Sean P said Reid was standoffish initially, joking that he was a YouTuber, but after he teased her about a 2006 TMZ video in which she was denied entry to a Hollywood club, her mood shifted, and she became friendlier.
He admitted that both of them were “tipsy” but coherent enough to converse. Returning to the bar, he tried to close out his tab while Reid handed him her purse and asked him to take out her room key.
Looking inside, he reportedly saw pills, and at that moment, Reid screamed for security. The influencer claimed security arrived, and both said there was no problem.
Later, Reid told him to meet her outside for another cigarette, but while walking to the smoking area, she allegedly fell to the floor and passed out.
