Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's former Cotswolds home has been plagued with fresh flooding again, months after the couple put it on the market and relocated to higher grounds.

The couple is understood to be plotting a move back to the U.S. as they miss their friends and loved ones, and cannot afford to live through another British winter.

This comes after Ellen DeGeneres opted for a new life abroad following allegations she fostered a toxic workplace on her cancelled eponymous show.

DeGeneres and her wife, de Rossi, are still struggling to offload their former Cotswolds mansion, five months after they placed it up for sale.

Ahead of their relocation to the U.K. last November, the comedian and the "Arrested Development" alum bought the property for £15 million [$19.8 million], hoping for a stress-free relocation and quick settling in to British life.

However, their hopes were dashed when Storm Bert struck the U.K., causing a nearby river to break its banks and flood their property.

According to the Daily Mail, the Oxfordshire mansion, which they listed in July 2025 for £22.5 million [$29.7 million], has remained unsold.

To worsen the situation, new photos obtained by the news outlet showed the 43-acre estate had been plagued with fresh flooding after storm Claudia caused a nearby tributary of the River Thames to overflow its banks.

The Couple Listed Their Home At 'An Absolutely Crazy Price'

Aside from the persistent floods, DeGeneres and de Rossi's difficulty selling off the property could be partly due to the asking price.

An estate agent previously told the news outlet that the listing was at "an absolutely crazy price," noting that the former TV host bought it for £2.5 million [$3.3 million] over the asking price of £12.5 million [$16.5 million], meaning its cost has increased by £10 million [$13.2 million] in the last year.

They've since moved to a spacious mansion on higher grounds where de Rossi can take care of her animals.

"When we decided to live here full-time, we knew that Portia couldn't live without her horses. We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them," DeGeneres said about their choice of home.

The couple is reportedly planning to make their way back to the U.S. because of the extremely low temperatures British winters come with.

When they first ditched the U.S. for life across the pond, DeGeneres and de Rossi sounded like they were never coming back in the near future, especially as they allegedly cited the political climate of the country following President Donald Trump's win at the polls.

However, reports claim they're now looking to return to California because they "miss their friends" and are looking to reunite with them during the holiday season, as well as the fact that they can't afford to live through another Cotswolds winter.

"Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but evidently she's changed her mind somewhat," a source said.

"She's been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can't take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again. They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it," they continued.

The Couple Share Snaps Of Their Daily Activities On Instagram

DeGeneres and her wife seemingly settled into their life away from the spotlight, but often shared photos and videos of their daily activities on Instagram.

They've been spotted in local bars, including The Farmer's Dog in Burford, owned by Jeremy Clarkson, and The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, Oxfordshire.

They moved to the U.K. following accusations that the talk show host fostered a toxic workplace environment on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

According to People Magazine, DeGeneres and de Rossi have been welcomed quite well by British locals who have given the couple their privacy.

"They come in regularly, they are really chilled and very polite," a local pub source told the news outlet. "They come in with their dogs, sometimes on their own and sometimes with other people."

"One time, they asked to sit at the corner table presumably as it's a bit more private," the insider recalled, adding of DeGeneres, "Everyone knows who she is, but they don't bother her."

"[Ellen's] so nice and very down to earth," they added. "It's a small village, so of course everyone gossips, but I haven't heard a single bad thing."
