The upcoming auction of Simmons' beloved doll collection comes months after the first auction was scheduled on his first death anniversary. The Blast covered the story, reporting that his personal items and memorabilia were put up for sale in July.

Over 200 items from Simmons' life made the list, including his signature bedazzled tank tops and workout clothes alongside branded VHS tapes and more. The Bonhams Auction House in Los Angeles honored the deceased by starting the sale on July 12, 2025, which would have been his 77th birthday.

The auction ran from July 12 to July 24, with July 13 marking the first anniversary of Simmons' tragic passing. The sale of his belongings was an event many thought would never happen, given the drama between the late entertainer's family and his longtime house manager, Teresa Reveles.

The late weight loss expert's brother, Leonard Simmons, and his longtime house manager and companion began butting heads over his estate. Reveles accused Leonard of tricking her into signing away her rights as a co-trustee of Richard's estate.

On the other hand, Leonard claimed Reveles's claims were motivated by greed. Amid their allegations against each other, Richard's 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged was auctioned in December 2024 for $30,750.

Following the car's sale, Leonard dragged Reveles for theft, accusing her of stealing over $1 million worth of jewelry, Broadway musical lyrics, and more. He argued that these items had disappeared after he asked Reveles to leave Richard's Hollywood Hills residence.

Months after Reveles packed out of the property she had spent years living with Simmons, the home was placed on the market in June 2025 for $7 million. The Blast reported that it experienced a massive price slash in November to $5,889,999.

The property, where Simmons took his final breath in July 2024, featured over 4,000 square feet of living space. It came with a circular swimming pool, a pool house, a well-equipped gym, and more luxuries such as a primary suite complete with a dressing room.

Reveles, Simmons's longtime companion, addressed their close relationship a month after the property went on sale. The Blast shared that she dropped a shocking bombshell, claiming Simmons fell in love with her at first sight and never loved anybody the way he loved her.
