Josh Brolin is revealing details about an unexpected period of his life: his former, close friendship with Donald Trump.

A long time ago, before Trump became president and caused national controversy, Brolin knew him as a completely different kind of person.

Now, with Trump suggesting he wants to remain in the presidency longer than the Constitution allows, Brolin is speaking openly about his feelings, showing a blend of surprise and skepticism along with a clear comprehension of the man he once spent time with.

Brolin explained that his view of Trump comes from knowing him long before the presidency.

He recalled a version of the 79-year-old that felt different from the figure dominating American politics today.

As he told The Independent, “I’m not scared of Trump, because even though he says he’s staying forever, it’s just not going to happen.”

Brolin added, “And if it does, then I’ll deal with that moment,” showing he wasn’t moved by Trump’s public claims about seeking a third term.

The actor met Trump after appearing in “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” in 2010, when the politician was a builder and entrepreneur.

Looking back, he said, “But having been a friend of Trump before he was president, I know a different guy.”

According to Josh Brolin, Trump’s strength has always been the way he speaks to people’s insecurities and needs.

In his words, “There is no greater genius than him in marketing — he takes the weakness of a general population and fills it.”

Brolin believes this skill is why so many supporters feel personally connected to Trump, saying, “I think a lot of people feel that they have a mascot in him.”

The 57-year-old also stressed that the president’s popularity was tied more to people’s desire for validation than to Trump himself.

When asked if Wicks reflects Trump, Brolin responded, “I could make something up and say it was rooted in a kind of Trumpian greed,” but insisted the character is not based on him.

Still, Brolin acknowledged deeper similarities about power, explaining that “Wicks garners a sense of power, then there are no boundaries.”

Speaking about the film, he added, “It’s genius. It took me to a few different places that I really didn’t anticipate, and I love that.”

While Josh Brolin prepares to take on another role, his brother Jess’s life has taken a tragic turn.

Once raised together on a ranch in Paso Robles and later a Santa Barbara mansion, Jess now struggles with health and housing.

A recent report from The Blast revealed that photos captured him waiting for a free trolley in Ojai, California, wearing faded denim shorts, with red blotches on his legs and weighing around 350 pounds.
