"Real Housewives of New York" star Leah McSweeney has no problem when it comes to fights on camera with her Bravo co-stars, but the star is drawing the line regarding threats and cyberbullying from online trolls, including the media.
The Married to the Mob founder recently took to Instagram and called out a writer over an online episode recap of "RHONY." Along with the episode summary, the writer included some opinions, including an alleged wish for McSweeney to "fall down a flight of stairs."
Sources close to McSweeney tell The Blast the Bravo star was appalled over the comments made in the online article, and pointed out that the freelance author also works as an administrator at a public defender's office in Florida. McSweeney personally called out the writer by posting her Instagram account on her own Stories.
We're told McSweeney has been the target of multiple online threats during the current season of "Real Housewives of New York," as her character has been wrapped up in some especially juicy drama that fans can't get enough of. Unfortunately, some fans take it into their own hands to contact the star and her family and air out their feelings about her character on the reality show.
Things have gotten so bad, we're told someone actually DM'd McSweeney suggesting that her daughter "kill herself."
We're told that new security measures have been put in place to make sure that her 14-year-old daughter, Kier, is not exposed to violent messages from online trolls.
As for the other threats and criticism against McSweeney, we are told she has vowed to take legal action if things continue to get worse. "She understands part of this is the show and the fan culture ... people pick sides," a source tells The Blast.
They added, "But to wish she fell down a flight of stairs and talking negatively about a 14-year-old is so wrong."
