David Letterman has never shied away from calling out Donald Trump, and he is not about to start now.

With the president placing renewed pressure to take Seth Meyers off the air and receiving a subtle nod from the FCC chairman, the retired late-night icon is speaking up.

Trump and Meyers have been involved in a showdown, with the 79-year-old Republican attacking Meyers' show and character, while the comedian continues to scrutinize Trump's actions.

David Letterman Slams Donald Trump’s Threat To Fire Seth Meyers, Calls Him A ‘Dictator’

On the November 25 episode of the “Barbara Gaines Show,” Letterman addressed Trump’s repeated online call-outs of Meyers, giving his blunt opinion about it.

"The president of the United States now wants to fire Seth Meyers, and I thought, 'This is just delightful. How do you think that's going to go?’" Letterman mocked.

The veteran turned to Meyers’ defense, calling him “a good friend” and gushing that he “has never been more proud of Meyers,” before reflecting fondly on their TV history together.

Letterman continued, poking fun at the U.S. leader’s recent remarks about his relationship with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following questions on the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The TV personality did not hold back in sharing his outlook on the administration, calling it "just a wonder of idiocy.” He added, “It's just fantastic. It knows no bounds. And never-ending. He's our current, he's our dictator. He's not going anywhere."

He went ahead to describe Trump's actions as far worse than any bad human behavior he's ever seen. “Think of the worst thing that you've ever seen humans accomplish. This is so much worse,” Letterman blasted.

Letterman’s criticism comes a week after Trump called for NBC to dismiss the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” host.

As The Blast previously covered, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, accusing the comedian of having "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

He mocked him for what he called a "ratings disaster” and then demanded “NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!" Not long after Trump's comments, the FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr appeared to back the demand, reposting a screenshot of the rant.

Carr had previously hinted at possible action against ABC following Jimmy Kimmel's controversial remarks in September, which ultimately led to Kimmel's suspension.

Meyers has also delivered his own blows, and that seemingly triggered Trump’s push for him to be dismissed.

In addition to criticizing the leader’s speech about aircraft catapults, Meyers suggested that the released emails of Jeffrey Epstein shed more light on Trump’s connection with him.

When a journalist noted that the texts "raise new questions," the former “SNL” writer claimed they actually confirm old suspicions. One exchange from 2011 between Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell claimed that Trump had "spent hours" at Epstein's home with a minor, withdrawing the name of the victim.

Meyers summed up his stance about Trump’s involvement saying, "If the question was, 'Did Trump know about the girls?' and an email says, 'Trump knew about the girls, that's pretty damning,” per The Blast.

While Meyers voiced his suspicions on-air, the White House has since firmly rejected the renewed attempt to link Trump to the convicted sexual offender.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the redacted name in the report was Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's most recognized accusers. Leavitt pointed out that Giuffre herself had previously cleared Trump of any wrongdoing or connection to Epstein.

She dismissed the leaked emails as politically motivated, accusing Democrats of trying to create a false narrative against the world leader. Leavitt also reminded that Trump banned the disgraced financier from Mar-a-Lago years ago after he behaved inappropriately toward female staff, including Giuffre.

David Letterman Rallied Behind Jimmy Kimmel During His Suspension

As the feud between Trump and Meyers heats up, Letterman's support for Meyers is nothing new. He has a history of standing up for younger comedians under political fire.

As The Blast reported, when ABC suspended “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Letterman called the punishment "a misery" and warned it reflected authoritarian tendencies.  He argued that removing a presenter to appease political pressure sets a dangerous precedent.

The veteran host noted that throughout his own decades on television, he openly criticized six U.S. presidents and was never threatened with being taken off the air.
