'American Pie' Star Tara Reid Declares Legal Action After Claims Of Being Drugged

Tara Reid is prepared to take legal action after her frightening ordeal. 

The "American Pie" actress is making her voice heard to ensure that the recent ordeal that landed her in the hospital is assessed correctly. She is also taking legal action to bring the offenders who allegedly drugged her to jail.

Tara Ried has a history of alcohol and substance abuse, which she has worked hard to put behind her, and she has also made headlines for embracing a childfree lifestyle.

Reid has filed a police report backing her allegations of being drugged while she was at a hotel bar last weekend. She was in Chicago, staying at the DoubleTree hotel in Rosemont, Ill., for a celebrity signing when this happened.

The actress has been trying to file a police report since the incident, but didn't know how to from Los Angeles. Finally, she has now filed the report with the Rosemont Public Safety Department. She details her experience that night at the hotel bar, recalling the events even though some parts remain vague.

Rosemont Public Safety Department Lieutenant Joseph Balogh told Page Six that they responded to an EMS-related incident on Sunday at some minutes past midnight. Paramedics responded and provided patient care for the "sick person call" before transporting them to the hospital.

Initially, no reports were filed, as revealed by Balogh, but on Tuesday at  4:26 pm, the division received an online report from Reid. To get to the bottom of the matter, the police are in communication with the hotel to gather video surveillance and are committed to "investigating this incident fully."

According to Reid's filed report, she noticed that there were a lot of YouTubers in the lobby at the hotel. She felt this was suspicious at the time, but did not fully understand what was going on.

She recounts that she ordered a glass of white wine and was approached by a man who claimed to be a successful influencer. Reid then went outside to smoke a cigarette with him, noting that she saw a napkin over her drink when she returned to the lobby.

The last thing she remembers was a couple sitting down next to them, after which she completely blacked out. About eight hours later, she woke up in the hospital, not knowing where she was or what had happened.

Reid said, "I am willing to prosecute," after revealing in the report that the man she had the cigarette with reached out to her with some videos of her the next day. She thought he was trying to extort her; instead, he helped by confirming that she had only had one drink.

Reid did not hide her past with alcohol and substance abuse from the public amid other struggles she faced. Back in 2008, the actress went in for the intervention as that was the right decision for her. The severity of her case led her to seek professional help and treatment.

She completed the 60-day program, and this really reshaped the person she was at the time. Reid got candid about the journey six years later, and The Blast reports show that she willingly made the decision to get the treatment because she did not like the person she was.

"I went there by myself. I put myself there. It was the greatest decision I ever made. Rehab saved my life," the TV star shared in an interview while talking about how she lived through those times.

The "American Pie" alum appeared on the Fox celebrity survival series for just two episodes of the second season. The Blast at the time reported that she was having mixed feelings about joining the show, but was convinced at the last minute to do it.

She detailed her experience as one of the "craziest things she's ever done." Also, because she hastily joined the show, she did not have enough time to train as others did. This led to her quitting by the second episode as she could not pull through with the strenuous activities.

The whole experience, she disclosed, was a great challenge for her, and although she did not see it through till the end, she was happy she did it. The mental and physical challenges that came along with the competition were also a big part of what made it difficult and scary.

A few years back, Reid revealed that her childfree lifestyle was a choice as she focused on building her career. She did not completely rule out the possibility of wanting to start a family someday.

According to an earlier release by PEOPLE, the actress feels content without kids but has frozen her eggs in case she changes her mind someday. "Will I have kids? Let's see what is in store for me. It's not a no, and it's not a yes," she said after revealing her family planning strategy.

Reid hopes that the future version of herself will be a happy producer and actress. She dotes on her two dogs and even sees herself as a mom as she takes them on trips with her, too.
