Chip And Joanna Gaines' Lifestyle Empire At Risk Of 'Imploding' Amid Expansion, Expert Warns

Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines are flying high right now, following the successes they've enjoyed on TV, but experts claim things could go sideways as their lifestyle empire continues to grow.
A PR expert revealed that the Texas-based couple runs the risk of fatiguing their fans with their continuous expansion, which could, in turn, destroy their brand.
This comes after Chip and Joanna Gaines faced backlash from their audience for featuring a gay couple on their show.
Chip And Joanna Gaines' Lifestyle Empire Is Expanding Fast

The couple has had multiple successful TV shows, including their very popular "Fixer Upper" series, and has gone on to grow a huge lifestyle empire with their brand, Magnolia.
But Chip and Joanna are reportedly nearing the point where they suffer from their success if they continue to expand their already massive media brand.
Having founded their own channel, Magnolia Network, the couple has a lot to deal with, especially as their latest "Fixer Upper" spinoff hit TV screens this December.
According to reputation expert Eric Schiffer, there is a "catastrophic danger" that their brand could suffer from the expansion.
"Love-or-hate is octane, and polarization turns 'Fixer Upper' into appointment TV and Magnolia into a short-term heat-seeking crazy cash machine," he explained, per the Daily Mail.
Schiffer continued, "Polarized brands get free rent in America's brain for a time. Haters write the marketing copy for you since each dunk thread is an unpaid billboard of venom. Bland brands die quietly, but loved-and-loathed brands scale loudly."
Chip And Joanna's Lifestyle Brand Could 'Suddenly Implode,' Expert Claims

Chip and Joanna's new spinoff would premiere on HGTV, Magnolia Network, HBO Max, and Discovery Plus, showing the large audience they'll be getting from next month.
Still, PR expert Schiffer warned that "confusing attention for affection" could see their lifestyle empire "suddenly implode."
"But hate-follow economies are fickle, and when schadenfreude dries up, so can the cash. And confusing attention for affection is how lifestyle empires can suddenly implode," Schiffer said.
The couple who got married in 2003 and share five children, built their empire starting with a small shop in Waco, Texas, before their TV fame led to what is currently a billion-dollar lifestyle brand.
They also have their hand in other businesses, including a real estate company, a restaurant, and a line of home goods with Target.
Expert Warns That Chip And Joanna Gaines' Overtly Sweet Persona Might Turn People Off

Weighing in on their sweet persona and their seemingly happy home, PR expert Schiffer noted that many seemed to be turned off by it and wouldn't hesitate to lash out at the couple.
"They're wholesome in a snark-infested economy where too much niceness triggers disgust," he said. "Their marriage is a device, romantics swoon, and cynics spew hate - but ratings ratchet higher."
Schiffer continued, "Haters do the heavy lifting, and as a result, every drag post is a click-filled gift basket."
The Couple Is At Risk Of Tiring Out Their Fans

Joanna has also seen success with her cooking show "Magnolia Table With Joanna Gaines," and has already expanded into her line of frozen food, Magnolia Table, in Target, as the retail giant stocks their shelves with her frozen sugar cookies, banana bread, buttermilk biscuits, and classic cinnamon rolls.
The large expense of business deals and TV shows is what made Schiffer suggest they're no longer just reality stars but have now morphed into a major "portfolio."
"When the grocery aisle recognizes your signature, their brand added more zeros to their net worth since relevance wins," he said, before going further to point out that there's a risk to it all.
"If you can dominate shelves and screens, do it. But, when every room of the house has your logo, there is a catastrophic danger that fatigue moves in, and brand damage goes kaboom," Schiffer explained.
The Gaineses Came Under Fire Recently For Featuring A Gay Couple On Their Show

Chip and Joanna received massive backlash in July when it was revealed they featured a gay couple in their reality show "Back To The Frontier."
The series follows the lives of three families who try to survive for eight weeks without water, electricity, or access to modern technology. Unfortunately for the power couple, some conservative Christians were furious at them for inviting Jason and Joe Hanna-Riggs.
Chip took to his X account at the time to hit back at critics, writing, "Talk, ask questions, listen... maybe even learn."
He continued: "Too much to ask of modern American Christian culture. Judge first, understand later/never. It's a sad Sunday when 'non-believers' have never been confronted with hate or vitriol until they are introduced to a modern American Christian."
