'American Pie' Star Tara Reid Makes Shocking Claim Of Being Roofied

Tara Reid insists something bigger was behind her weekend hospitalization episode!

The actress came out to address what really went down on Sunday morning after she came down to her hotel bar for a drink and smoke break.

Tara Reid's past troubles with alcohol and substance abuse have not gone undocumented, including her visit to a treatment center in 2008 to fix herself and her strained bond with her family.

The actress explained that her blissful Sunday morning at a hotel outside Chicago turned into a nightmare because somebody slipped a drug in her drink, and this affected her badly. Reid was seen getting wheeled out of the hotel on a stretcher by emergency responders who ferried her to the hospital.

The media personality explained that she checked into her room on Saturday evening and went downstairs for a drink and a cigarette at the bar, after which she stepped out to light the smoke.

Upon her return to the hotel lobby, she discovered that her drink was weirdly covered with a napkin, but still proceeded to drink it anyway, and this marked the beginning of the unfortunate episode. 

In her account to TMZ, the star shared that she only had that one drink before she became unconscious, but an eyewitness claimed she had a moment of frenzy in the lobby where she screamed at people before the paramedics arrived.

Reid came into the limelight in 1995 when she played the role of Ashley in "Days of Our Lives," and then intensified her reign as queen of the screens following her appearance in the "American Pie" franchise in 1999 and 2001.

Through the course of her career, the actress has experienced some challenges, including the downsides to fame, where she admitted to PEOPLE that she felt lonely when fame dwindled.

She also spoke on the trend of bullying in Hollywood after a bikini picture of her went viral in 2014, and people came after her appearance. Reid further addressed the topic during an interview with E! News, stating, "I've definitely felt bullying in my life. With media or press or just different things in my life."

2018 was a much more dramatic year for her as she made headlines for causing trouble on a Delta flight, leading to a subsequent removal from the cabin.

When she went in for the intervention in 2008, sources close to her admitted it was a step in the right direction. The insiders noted that the actress was in dire need of help at the time and only treatment from a professional could salvage the situation.

US Magazine explained that upon completing the 60-day program, the actress stated six years later that she got the treatment because she did not like the person she was, and it left her in a sad and conflicted state.

"I went there by myself. I put myself there. It was the greatest decision I ever made. Rehab saved my life," the actress declared.

In 2023, The Blast shared that the media personality spoke about the idea of people casting less judgment on Hollywood stars with partners and children. According to her, it has been somewhat challenging getting rid of the controversial reputation she had in the industry in her prime. 

Hence, having children would have helped revamp that image and set her career on a different trajectory. She pressed further that another way she also realized would have helped her shake off the reputation she earned from playing Victoria Latham in "American Pie" was taking on more traditional roles.

Unfortunately, none of these appealed to the TV star, who emphasized that it is grossly unfair of society to judge people based on their past or choices.

The 50-year-old expanded on her breakout period in Hollywood, which was in the late 90s to the early 2000s, where there was a lot of partying. Reid insisted that the party girl image was really all she maintained, and she really never indulged in other vices, such as sex tapes or even breaking traffic rules.

The actress recalled getting the short end of the stick from the press, who allegedly tainted her image simply because she loved “popping bottles and having a great time.”

She noted that the wave of verbal attacks and bad press really came after she labelled herself the godmother of partying and literally set a target on her back. This phase was practically unbearable for her, leading to her temporary departure from Hollywood.
