New Revelations Claim Diana Was Betrayed In A Plot That Changed History

Princess Diana’s world had already been shaking long before the interview where she famously said, “There were three of us in this marriage.”
However, newly resurfaced findings now reveal something even more devastating.
According to a report, the BBC interview that changed her life and the monarchy may have been built on a deep betrayal she never understood.
With journalist Andy Webb uncovering years of buried evidence, a clearer and more heartbreaking truth is emerging that Princess Diana may have been pulled into a plot so calculated that it altered the course of royal history forever.
Princess Diana’s Secret Interview Was Built On Deception, New Claims Reveal

Long before Princess Diana sat down in front of the BBC cameras on Nov. 5, 1995, she had already taken a huge risk.
She quietly let three men into her Kensington Palace sitting room, sent her staff home, and kept everything stripped down, no makeup team, no full crew, just secrecy.
However, years later, a 2021 inquiry revealed that journalist Martin Bashir gained Diana’s trust using “forged documents,” a move BBC executives later tried to hide.
Prince William would later reveal that the interview fueled his mother’s “fear, paranoia and isolation,” and worsened her already fragile relationship with King Charles.
Over three decades after the interview, investigative journalist Andy Webb, who spent nearly two decades digging, argues that the deception was far wider than people knew, and that a full-scale BBC cover-up kept the truth buried for more than 25 years.
Princess Diana Was Misled During Her Most Vulnerable Moment, Sources Say

Speaking to PEOPLE, Webb revealed that Diana didn’t enter the interview from a place of strength, because she was already scared and emotionally exhausted.
After privacy breaches like the “Squidgygate,” a secretly recorded phone call that went public in 1992, she felt watched and more alone than ever.
Describing her state of mind, her former private secretary, Patrick Jephson, said, “She was in a state of justified anxiety. It is not paranoia if you have reasonable grounds to believe that they are out to get you.”
Sadly, Bashir reportedly took advantage of this by showing Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer forged bank statements suggesting palace staff were spying on her.
This planted fear made her trust Bashir more deeply. According to close friend Rosa Monckton, Diana “was frail, and that made her susceptible.”
Webb also alleged that Bashir told Diana a false story claiming her sons’ nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke, had an affair with Prince Charles, even presenting a forged document suggesting she had an abortion.
He believes this shocking lie pushed the late Princess to finally agree to the Panorama interview.
Princess Diana’s Interview Rocked the World, But Viewers Never Knew The Lies Behind It

When the interview was finally filmed, Diana insisted on a small crew. Bashir, a producer, and a cameraman slipped into the palace pretending they were there to demonstrate a sound system.
Webb revealed that she and Bashir spent 90 minutes going over questions in the kitchen, preparing for what became one of the most unforgettable TV moments in history. When "Panorama" aired on November 20, 1995, the world was stunned.
Princess Diana spoke openly about Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, her struggle with bulimia, and her affair with James Hewitt. Her steady, calm delivery reached nearly 200 million viewers around the globe. The interview's impact was immediate. Within weeks, Queen Elizabeth ordered Diana and Charles to divorce. Jephson also resigned in early 1996, unaware that the former Princess of Wales had been misled into thinking he was part of a conspiracy. He later said it was “chilling” to realize she had seen him as “the enemy within.”
Inside the BBC, warnings had already begun. A graphic designer reported the bank statements were fake. Bashir confessed to forging them but initially lied, claiming he never showed them to anyone. Instead of exposing the truth, the BBC held a weak internal review in 1996 that cleared him.
Diana’s Life Unraveled After The BBC’s Actions, New Findings Suggest

Webb believes the BBC should have warned Princess Diana immediately.
“Her life would have followed a different path if she’d been warned,” he said. “She might plausibly still be alive today — a grandmother at 64.”
Diana’s brother Charles Spencer agreed, saying, “High-ranking people in the BBC participated in securing this interview through appalling deception.”
Because Diana believed palace officials had betrayed her, she refused official protection. By August 1997, she relied solely on the security provided by Dodi Fayed’s team, a setup that proved tragically inadequate during that final night in Paris.
Jephson said, “Because Diana had been tricked into distrusting every kind of official protection, she put herself in a position where she had to accept the protection of people who were not competent.”
Princess Diana Never Learned the Truth, And Her Sons Still Carry The Pain

For Princes William and Harry, the betrayal didn’t end with their mother’s death. In 2021, the Duke of Sussex said, “Our mother lost her life because of this.” Prince William also added, “My mother would have known that she had been deceived” if the BBC had acted responsibly.
For their part, the BBC says it accepted all the findings of the Dyson report, which focused on the truth behind how Bashir obtained the interview with Diana. After the report was released in 2021, they apologized, but Webb argues it didn’t undo decades of cover-up or repair the trust lost with the royal family. “William wants transparency, honesty and full disclosure,” he said.
Most unfortunately, Diana never learned the truth. Webb explained that “she firmly believes that he was a truth teller,” never realizing that Bashir had manipulated her with lies.
He concluded, “Had Diana realized Bashir was a fraudster, everything would have fallen away.”
