Rebel Wilson has finally spoken up about the ongoing battle involving her, a cast member, and some producers of “The Deb.”

The Australian actress filed a lawsuit in October 2024, alleging that her co-star on “The Deb,” Charlotte McInnes, was sexually harassed on set. However, the suit backfired on her, as McInnes claimed they were all fabricated lies and instead sued her for defamation.

Now, Wilson is speaking up about the matter, insisting that her claims were valid and she spoke up because she felt an obligation to do so as a director.

Wilson recently appeared on “60 Minutes Australia,” where she told journalist Tara Brown why she felt the need to speak out for her co-star.

The 45-year-old actress defended her actions as an obligation, saying, “I felt that in my position as director, I had to report that. And the moment I did, [it] started all the kind of retaliation against me.”

Wilson recalled how McInnes allegedly said that Amanda Ghost asked her to take a shower with her to warm up, which made her “feel really uncomfortable.” Wilson then took up Ghost’s claims as sexual harassment complaints. However, it backfired on her.

“She came to me, she made what I obviously inferred as a sexual harassment complaint, and I had a duty to then act on it,” Wilson said. She further added that she only did what she did because as a director, she felt she “had an ethical, moral responsibility to do that.”

Rebel Wilson Recalls Being ‘Locked In A Room’ On The Movie Set

The “Struck By Lightning” actress further told Brown how so many things went wrong with the project, besides the alleged sexual harassment incident. She recalled being forced to sign documents at one point and likening her experience to being held hostage by the KBG.

“A whole ton of things went on, including something massive ... me and local producers being locked in a room and forced to sign documents," Wilson said.

She also revealed that at one point, she was told that the movie would be cancelled, which would put everyone out of a job. As such, she felt like she was on the receiving end of targeted bullying from the movie producers because she had spoken up about the alleged sexual harassment.

Despite it all, Wilson maintained the point of view that she was only standing up for “the hard work that everyone put into it [the movie] for years." She further admitted to being surprised that the legal drama has escalated so much, saying, "I think it's wild it's gotten to this point. I think it's a ridiculous waste of the Australian legal system."

While Wilson remained firm in her opinion that McInnes was harassed on set, the latter refuted the former’s claims.

Per The Blast, McInnes, in her suit, tagged Wilson’s allegations as “absurd,” and instead, claimed that she was the one who “felt very bullied and harassed” by Wilson, the director of the film.

She further claimed that her statements to Wilson were misconstrued because “Nothing that I told Wilson could reasonably have conveyed that I was reporting any misconduct because there was no misconduct."

The “The Deb” lead star further addressed Wilson’s claims that she was “subjected to 'depraved sexual demands,’” insisting that the statements are completely “false.”

“I have no idea what could cause Wilson and her attorney to make up such lies about me,” she lamented.

Wilson didn’t only claim that McInnes was harassed on the movie set, she also alleged that the producers were purposely attempting to tank the movie premiere because she called them out on their “bad behavior.”

The comedienne uploaded a video last year, alleging that Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and Vince Holden were guilty of exhibiting “inappropriate behavior towards the lead actress of the film" and "embezzling funds from the film's budget,” as The Blast reported.

She then claimed that since she reported them, they have tried to make her life miserable by directing retaliatory behaviour towards her.
