Liev Schreiber's sudden hospitalization has sparked intense concern among fans, especially as the actor's past medical scare involved a rare condition that temporarily wiped out his memory.

The 58-year-old Hollywood star was rushed to a New York City hospital after suffering a severe headache, leading to overnight monitoring and multiple tests.

At the hospital, the movie star spent the night under medical supervision and underwent what was described as a "battery of tests."

A representative later shared a statement to PEOPLE Magazine explaining, "Out of an abundance of caution, Liev went into the hospital for testing and as of this afternoon, he has been cleared to return to work."

While the update was reassuring, no details were provided about what triggered the severe headache, leaving fans anxious for answers.

The fear surrounding Liev Schreiber's sudden headache deepened because this isn't his first health scare involving intense pain.

In 2024, while starring in "Doubt: A Parable on Broadway," he experienced a terrifying episode later identified as transient global amnesia, a rare condition involving sudden, temporary memory loss.

During an appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Schreiber recalled being in his dressing room when he had "a terrible headache" that felt stronger than a typical fast-food headache.

According to the Daily Mail, as he walked down the stairs, he remembered thinking, "This is not normal. I don't feel okay."

Schreiber also said he knew something was wrong when he saw his co-star Amy Ryan backstage and couldn't remember her name. Onstage, his memory collapsed completely.

Describing his experience, he later recounted, "The play is gone from my head… I know I'm in a play, but I don't know what play I'm in."

Schreiber shared that during the Broadway episode, his doctor friend and his wife arrived with "terrified" expressions, making him believe something catastrophic was happening.

According to the Emmy nominee, he feared he was having a stroke. "I think, 'Okay, I've had a stroke. This is it,'" he recalled.

Though an MRI later confirmed there was no brain bleed and his brain looked "perfectly fine," the memory loss rattled him deeply.

A neurologist eventually explained that the condition was transient global amnesia, which resolves within 24 hours.

Schreiber admitted he didn't fully believe the diagnosis at first, convinced something more serious was being missed.

He even joked about the condition being brought on by migraines and "rigorous coitus," but the experience clearly left an emotional mark.

The Golden Globe award winner later said he went to sleep, woke up, and suddenly remembered the entire play again, but he worried people would think he had faked the incident to avoid performing.
