Jets Placed Boyd On Injured Reserve Earlier This Season

Just months before the tragic shooting, Kris Boyd had already faced a setback in his first season with the New York Jets. The team placed the defensive back on injured reserve in August after he sustained a shoulder injury during the club’s Green & White practice on August 2.

At 5-foot-11 and 201 pounds, Boyd had established himself as a core special teams player throughout his NFL career. After signing with the Jets in March, the veteran defensive back was expected to bring energy and experience to the roster.

Before joining New York, Boyd appeared in all 17 games for the Houston Texans last season, logging 365 special teams snaps, the second most on the team, and 48 defensive snaps. Despite his limited time on defense, Boyd’s reliability and hustle made him a valuable presence in the locker room and on the field.
