Kim Kardashian With Kris Jenner And Ray J Are Back To Butting Heads Over 2007 Sex Tape

The legal drama between Kim Kardashian, her mom Kris Jenner, and her ex Ray J continues to rage on with another lawsuit.

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" stars have been butting heads with the rapper for years over the truth behind a sex tape. Kim and her family began gaining traction after the explicit video was leaked in 2007; however, she has denied being involved in the leak.

On the other hand, Ray J has repeatedly insisted that he, Kim Kardashian, and Kris Jenner signed an agreement to release the sex tape. He has since filed a countersuit against them after the mother-daughter duo sued him for defamation.

After Ray J filed a countersuit in response to Kim and Kris' defamation lawsuit against him, their attorney, Alex Spiro, addressed their stance in a statement. The legal rep labeled the rapper's filing "frivolous," stating that he was fighting a losing battle.

"After realizing he is losing the case and losing his way, this disjointed rambling distraction is not intimidating anyone," Spiro told Page Six. He declared Ray J would lose his countersuit, a bold statement that showcased Kim and Kris' confidence in winning the case.

In his countersuit, Ray J doubled down on his claims about the leaked sex tape. He alleged that he and Kim had filmed the explicit video consensually in 2003 during their relationship. In 2006, Kim voiced her interest in releasing the tape and pushed for Kris to handle the process.

According to Ray J, Kris leaked the sex tape before she and her daughter did a complete 180 to blame him for their actions. He alleged he was being targeted by the mother-daughter duo because he "no longer wants to play along with their tall tale."

"Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner's lawsuit is not about defamation — it's about publicity, power, and punishment," Ray J stressed in the countersuit. The Blast shared in October that Kim and Kris had filed a defamation lawsuit against the entertainer after he dropped bombshell claims about them.

Their attorney accused Ray J of holding on to the past for clout, claiming that he was "unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago." He first raised eyebrows when he confessed that he wouldn't be surprised if the Kardashians were charged with racketeering.

Ray J dropped his claims about Kim and Kris in the Tubi documentary, "United States vs. Sean Combs." He alleged that Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges could be brought against the famous family and advised people close to Kim to warn her.

"They need to tell her now, the Feds are coming. There's nothing I can do about it," Ray J declared. He claimed the RICO case he was building against Kim and Kris was so massive it was nothing compared to the fall of Diddy, a highly publicized criminal case that ended with the rapper's incarceration.

Ray J has been vocal about his relationship with Kim over the years, once claiming their sex life featured "a red Louis Vuitton trunk of sex toys." He alleged Kim enjoyed having the perfect lighting and makeup whenever they got intimate; however, she called him out for being "a pathological liar."

Years before Ray J, Kim, and Kris began their legal ordeal, the trio were once again thrust into the spotlight over a second sex tape. The Mirror covered the story in 2022, reporting that the drama occurred during an episode of the family's reality TV show.

The SKIMS founder discovered there was another tape in Ray J's possession, and her then-husband, Kanye "Ye" West, had stepped forward to cut a deal with him. Kim told her family that he got the computer and hard drive containing the explicit videos from her ex at the airport.

The episode saw Ye comforting Kim and assuring her that he would "never let them extort us again," a statement that seemed directed at Ray J and his manager. However, the R&B singer shared a different narrative, claiming the Kardashians had framed him for a crime he did not commit.

Ray J fired back at the episode with a 44-minute-long video that showcased his alleged communications with Kim. In one message, he called her out for framing him with the second sex tape and threatened to spill their tea on their contract.

He slammed Kim for trying to ruin him, reminding her that the leaked sex tape was a deal they carried out consensually. In her response, Kim wondered if Ray J had watched the episode properly, stressing that she never said anything bad about him.

Kim also claimed she would sort out the misunderstanding with a statement, but nothing ever came of it, leading to Ray J blowing a fuse. In the video, he leaked more alleged messages between them alongside their alleged contract for the leaked sex tape.
