Adele is set to make a huge comeback to the limelight.
This time, she won’t just be singing behind a mic but will be making her acting debut in Tom Ford’s adaptation of “Cry to Heaven.”
The singer quietly stepped away from the spotlight after concluding her Las Vegas residency last year. In the past, she has also made it clear that she doesn’t like being famous and has often looked for a "big break" from music.
Adele Is Set To Make Her Acting Debut

Adele is part of a star-studded cast set to feature in an adaptation of the Anne Rice novel, “Cry to Heaven.”
Deadline confirmed that Tom Ford wrote the screenplay and will also wear director and producer hats through his Fade To Black production company. While there’s no official release date yet, the film may hit theaters late fall 2026 as principal photography is set to kick off mid-January next year.
Adele is joined by other stars, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, Owen Cooper, and Paul Bettany. Although the “Set Fire to the Rain” singer’s role in the film remains unclear, the adaptation follows the lives of two protagonists making their way through the world of opera.
The 37-year-old singer’s appearance in the film marks a significant shift from her otherwise low-key profile. In the past, she has only appeared in some episodes of “Saturday Night Live.” She also made a cameo appearance in “Ugly Betty” over a year ago.
Adele Announced She Was Taking A ‘Long’ Break Last Year

News of Adele’s acting debut comes one year after she told her fans she was stepping away from the spotlight to enjoy her life in solitude.
After performing “Weekends with Adele” for the final time at Caesar’s Palace, the 16-time Grammy Award winner told fans, “I will not see you for an incredibly long time. I just need a rest. I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”
True to her word, the singer was not spotted in public until two months ago when she was seen hanging out with friends in Las Vegas.
The Songwriter Is Reportedly Intentionally Keeping The Public At Bay

It is not unlike Adele to take breaks from the spotlight. However, her most recent hiatus seems remarkably different from others.
During previous breaks, the singer would sometimes make public appearances in interviews or at award shows. However, this time, she has managed to stay completely away from the public eye.
Sources close to Adele say that this move was intentional because she wants to control what the public sees about her life, as this will help her protect her peace better.
As reported by The Blast, one insider said, “This is not new that she’s keeping her private life separate; she has a right to one, but it does have to be said that more than ever before, she is going the extra mile to be strict about what she lets people see.”
Adele Was Reportedly House Hunting In The UK

Shortly after Adele took a step back from the public eye, it was reported that she was considering moving back to the UK because she was “homesick.”
According to The Blast, a source close to the pop star said that she was looking for a “beautiful” and “secure” place in the capital.
The insider also revealed that although she was house hunting in the UK, the “Someone Like You” singer did not intend to sell her $58 million mansion in Beverly Hills.
The singer shares the mansion with her fiancé, Rich Paul, and her eight-year-old son, and will reportedly move back to the UK with them by her side.
Adele Spoke Openly About Wanting A ‘Big Break’

Before reports of Adele moving to the UK broke out, the singer openly expressed the desire to take a break from music.
The Blast reported that she admitted to not having any plans for new music “at all.” Instead, she revealed that she wants to do other creative things besides music.
“I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while,” she said.
The singer also acknowledged that while she “doesn’t like being famous,” she appreciates the fact that she gets to make music “all the time.”
