On Friday, November 7, a representative for Fox Sports announced that the media company had let go of Mark Sanchez following his involvement in a stabbing incident.

"We can confirm that Mark Sanchez is no longer with the network. There will be no further comment at this time," said the spokesperson.

Sanchez worked with Fox Sports as an NFL analyst and was in Indianapolis to cover the Week 5 game between the Raiders and Colts when he had an altercation with Perry Role, a 69-year-old truck driver.

He suffered injuries during the incident that led to his hospitalization for a while, during which felony charges were filed against him for being the instigator.

His victim, who stabbed Sanchez multiple times, also suffered severe injuries from the former quarterback's actions during the altercation.

In the wake of Sanchez's employment termination, his brother, Nick Sanchez Jr., has aired his discontent with the network's decision.

He added, "Mark deeply values his time at FOX and the exceptional colleagues he's had the privilege to work with. Those relationships are meaningful and will endure."

The Former Footballer Has Already Been Replaced

Following the incident, Fox Sports has also moved to replace Sanchez, as they recently hired another former NFL star, Drew Brees.

Brees will reportedly analyze NFL games alongside Sanchez's former partner, Adam Amin. The arrangement is expected to last for the rest of this season, beginning this weekend.

"I appreciate the opportunity FOX has given me in the booth and with their team," Brees said in a statement to announce his hiring, per ESPN. "I hope my passion for this game is reflected in the knowledge and insights I provide to the fans each Sunday."

Due to the incident, Sanchez now risks facing up to six years in prison linked to the level five felony battery involving "serious bodily injury."

The charge was filed against him by the authorities after they determined that the victim's medical condition was severe.

Sanchez is also facing three other counts: battery with injury, public intoxication, and unlawful entry of a vehicle.

As his case continues to unfold, it is expected that he will not be given any preferential treatment at any point.

"I don't care who you are. I don't care what you do for a living. I don't care where you live," said Indianapolis Police Chief Chris Bailey in a press statement addressing the incident.

He added, "If you come into our city and commit violence, we will use all the tools at our disposal to hold you accountable."

All About Mark Sanchez's Upcoming Trial

On October 22, a pretrial hearing was held for the charges against Sanchez without him being present.

At the time, his lawyer, Tim Delaney, stated that he was still recuperating from his injuries and medical treatment.

Delaney also mentioned that Sanchez's condition "may impact some of the dates," which implies that there may be possible changes to the trial schedule.

However, for now, the trial remains set for December 11 and will be presided over by Judge James Osborn, who took over the case after Judge Jennifer Prinz Harrison recused herself.

Besides the criminal charges, Sanchez is also being sued by Tole, who claimed in his lawsuit that he was left permanently disfigured by Sanchez's actions.

The filing further stated that PT suffered "significant injuries to his head, jaw, and neck," and that Sanchez allegedly used PT's own knife to stab him through the cheek, causing a cut on his tongue.
