Kanye West has blamed his past antisemitic rants on his bipolar condition. The rapper made the remarks while meeting with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto on Tuesday in New York City.
During the conversation, he apologized for his actions, saying he now wants to take "accountability."
Kanye West had previously renounced his antisemitic stance earlier in the year after a lengthy, hateful tirade against Jews.

Kanye West appears to be showing genuine remorse for his past antisemitic behavior online.
On Tuesday, the rapper apologized for his hateful remarks about Jews during a sit-down with Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, the leader of the global organization Mosdot Shuva Israel.
West began by appreciating the non-English-speaking rabbi for meeting with him before expressing his desire to take "accountability" for his past actions.
The conversation then shifted to the music mogul blaming his alleged bipolar condition, which he said caused him to take his ideas to extremes.
"I was dealing with some various issues, bipolar, also, so it would take the ideas I had and had them, take them to an extreme where I would forget about the protection of the people around me, or myself," West told the rabbi through a translator, per the Daily Mail.
He added, "So it's like if you left the house and left your kid at the house and your kid went and messed up the kitchen and messed up the garage, mess up the living room. Now, when you get back, it's your responsibility, because that's your child."
Kanye West Wants To Build Back The 'Strong Walls' Of His Relationship With Jews

According to West, his apology was the beginning of him making amends for his antisemitic rants, and he intends to do more in the future.
"I really just appreciate you embracing me with open arms and allowing me to make amends. And this is beginning in the first steps, and the first brick by brick to build, to build back the strong walls," the rapper continued.
Throughout the conversation, Rabbi Pinto seemed to listen closely to West and, at one point, was even seen holding his hands as a gesture of reconciliation.
The two shared a warm embrace at the end of their meeting, followed by a social media post from Pinto in which he appeared to forgive West for his past behavior.
"A person is not defined by his mistakes, but by the way he chooses to correct them," the statement read. "This is the true strength of man: The ability to return, to learn, and to build bridges of love and peace."
Netizens Had Mixed Reactions Over Kanye West's Apology

West's decision to apologize was seen as a welcome development by many, including superstar singer Nicki Minaj.
"So happy to see Kanye publicly take accountability for the pain his words may have caused to so many," she wrote on X. "Standing with our Jewish brothers & sisters."
"Well, idk what to think, but this seems quite genuine," a different user commented.
However, some users also showed distrust for the apology, saying it was only a matter of time before the rapper reverts to his old ways.
"I give it max 3 months before he does something antisemitic again," another netizen remarked.
One more individual noted, "You don't get to make a song called Heil Hitler, then bring a camera with you for a staged apology with some Jews. Anyone falling for this shit is retarded."
Kanye West Previously Renounced His Antisemitic Stance

West first sparked outrage in 2022 after tweeting that he was going "death con 3" on Jews.
The backlash was swift, leading to a string of lost business deals and sponsors cutting ties with him. However, the fallout didn't seem to affect West at the time, as he later went on to deliver an even more disturbing antisemitic rant earlier this year.
He also followed the tirade with the release of a song titled "Heil Hitler," which controversially repeated the line "N-gger, Heil Hitler" 15 times and included several mentions of the word "Nazi" in different contexts.
His rant then ended with him tweeting that he is "done with antisemitism."
"I love all people," the rapper also wrote on the platform. "God forgive me for the pain I've caused. I forgive those who have caused me pain. Thank you, God," he added at the time.
The Rapper Penned A Heartfelt Apology In Hebrew

West has previously apologized for his antisemitic remarks and actions, as he once posted an apology to the Jewish community in December 2023.
The rapper's apology, originally penned in Hebrew, read, "I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any 'unintended outburst.' I did not intend to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused."
West continued, "I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity."
