According to Deadline, the idea for "All's Fair" came after Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden introduced Murphy to the Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner. They met up for dinner, and Murphy brought a reality pitch.
After finishing his pitch, Kris then suggested that he write a scripted role for Kim. Murphy admits that he did not think the mom of four would agree to it, and he was indeed startled when she did. His inquisition pushed the question to Kim, to which she responded, "Because it's iconic and I like iconic sh-t."
The momager and Murphy then took their idea for Kim to play a divorce attorney on the show on Hulu, and the rest is history. He also revealed that other members of the cast signed on without reading the script once he mentioned it was a legal drama featuring Kim.
