Iggy Azalea is defending Britney Spears after the pop star claimed she was the subject of abusive behavior by her father, saying she had “personally witnessed” some of it that was “detailed in regards to her father” in the shocking court testimony.
The ‘Fancy’ rapper took to Twitter and blasted Jamie Spears — claiming Britney’s dad used similar “tactics” on her — during a performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. At the time, Britney and Iggy collaborated on a single ‘Pretty Girls’ which she has said flopped because the pop star’s team wouldn’t promote it. But, the duo connected for one performance which included a bizarre interaction with Jamie Spears that Iggy says proves BS is not lying about the treatment she has endured.
“During the time we worked together in 2015, I personally witnessed the same behavior Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up & tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying.” Iggy began.
She continued, “I saw her restricted from even the most bizarre & trivial things: like how many sodas she was allowed to drink,” Azalea continued. “Why is that even Necessary?”
“Her father conveniently waited until literally moments before the BMAs performance when I was backstage in the dressing room & told me if I did not sign an NDA he would not allow me on stage,” Iggy claimed. Adding, “The way he went about getting me to sign a contract, sounded similar to the tactics Britney spoke about last week in regards to her Las Vegas show.”
In her scathing statement, Iggy claims it is proof Britney’s father might have forced the legal case on the pop star.
“Jamie Spears has a habit of making people sign documents while under Duress it seems,” she said. She concluded, “and Britney Spears should not be forced to co-exist with that man when she’s made it clear it is negatively impacting her mental health. This is not right at all.”
The rapper, who is used to the pitfalls of the Entertainment business says “It’s basic human decency to at the very least remove a person Britney has identified as abusive from her life. This should be illegal.”
This is not the first time Iggy has spoken out in defense of Britney Spears. The rapper opened up about her experience with the pop star’s team during an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live.’ Britney’s team “checked my place to make sure I wasn’t trying to stash anything weird and, like, give it to her or something” before the duo was scheduled for a lunch date.
As we reported, Britney Spears shocked the world during a scheduled testimony in her conservatorship case, claiming she is being controlled in all aspects of her life including being forced on birth control and not being allowed to get married. The pop star claimed she was also forced to take the drug Lithium after not wanting to perform in Las Vegas.
At this point, she will need to file a request for “termination” of her conservatorship before a judge considered freeing her from the situation.
