Kimora Lee Simmons' Second Daughter On The Challenges Of Filling Mom's Big Shoes

The Style Network alum's daughter got candid last year about filling her mom's shoes and living in her shadow as a model and celebrity in the industry. As stated by E! Online, Aoki Lee Simmons revealed that she was quitting modelling to get a degree in her field of focus.
Expressing the constant scrutiny and criticisms around her modeling career, Aoki declared, "It just feels like one big, fat comparison all the time. Okay, you're not as good,' I get that. My mom is always going to be a way better model than I am. But it's just annoying to have that comparison sometimes."
Aoki explained that even years later, she still could not find it easy to secure gigs that Kimora got at her age as a model. Kimora began modeling as a teenager, landing the covers of Vogue and Elle while walking for Valentino and Fendi's fashion shows.
"I'm taking the foreign service test so I can get back into international relations, which is what my degree is in. You should finish out strong, and with respect to the industry you chose to be involved in.' So, I'm gonna go finish strong," Aoki stated about the next phase of her life.
Inside The Fashion Mogul And Ex Russell Simmons' Online Spat

Despite separating from the Def Jam founder nearly two decades ago, the duo got into it on social media in 2023 after their other daughter, Ming Lee Simmons, wished the model a "Happy Father's Day" instead of Russell.
The music label executive instantly reacted to the development, taking to his Instagram story to condemn Ming's act. He urged people to stop condemning fathers for ignoring their children while refusing to apportion blame to the mothers for making co-parenting a nightmare in the first place.
Kimora clearly got the message and then took to her Instagram with a response for Russell by asking him to leave her and the kids out of his drama.
"This narrative of attacking the only caregiver, the only parent in the home with the kids, the mom, AND the kids for one's own shortcomings and embarrassments is dead. Dead. Dead," Kimora added.
Aoki then dropped a series of content showcasing Russell's distasteful character towards her and Kimora over the years, followed by a promise to never speak to him until her death.
Kimora Lee Simmons And Russell Simmons Fight Over Alleged Diversion Of Shares

The former couple had previously gotten in a legal head-to-head over a wrong business investment, where he claimed that the model and her now estranged Tim Leissner messed up his shares.
According to him, Tim and Kimora allegedly diverted Celsius Energy drink shares worth tens of millions of dollars to offset Tim's bonds due to the federal criminal charges against him.
Kimora reacted to the claims from the label executive, noting that she and the kids were beyond shocked at the claim of extortion from Russell.
The model noted that she and Tim actually invested millions of dollars in Celsius stocks, and her ex is only trying to use the legal system to access funds he was not entitled to.
The statement from the duo also promised that the Def Jam founder will be held accountable for his unfounded claims about being entitled to dividends from Celsius despite making zero contributions.
