The incident began when "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan appeared on "The Drew Barrymore Show" to reminisce about his early work.

During the chat, Drew, now 50, and Gilligan remembered "Home Fries," the 1998 romantic comedy starring Barrymore and her former flame, Luke Wilson.

In a burst of spontaneous nostalgia, Barrymore reached for her phone.

Wilson and Barrymore had dated from 1996 to 1998, a relationship that began while they were co-starring in "Home Fries," written by Gilligan himself.

"We were just talking about you and we're sending you love, and can you believe Home Fries was 27 years ago now?" she cooed into her phone per the Daily Mail.

When Wilson didn't pick up, she left a warm but awkward voicemail: "I know this is just a voicemail, but I love you, I'm sending you love, and I'm here with Vince on the show, and we're thinking about you. Okay, love you, bye."

The moment felt innocent, yet deeply cringeworthy. Fans watching the scene unfold could practically feel the tension of an unanswered call to an ex.

Just when things couldn't get more awkward, they did.

Wilson actually called back while the show was still taping.

The 52-year-old actor explained that he missed the initial call because he was doing chores. His tone was friendly and full of nostalgia.

He took a moment to compliment Vince Gilligan's work, saying the "Breaking Bad" creator was "such a great writer."

Wilson added with admiration, "It's unbelievable, what you did."

Then came a memory that had everyone laughing.

Reflecting on their time filming "Home Fries," Wilson shared a bizarre story about a night out with co-star Jake Busey.

He recalled how the two of them "had a couple beers" and decided to shine a flashlight at an oncoming train, pretending "like we were directing traffic."

The laughter died down when they realized they had accidentally committed a federal offense.

"That happens," Drew Barrymore quipped, before reminding him of their own infamous escapade. "Remember, I got arrested for public urination with you?"

It turns out Barrymore and Luke Wilson weren't actually arrested that night, but the memory remains vivid.

They were caught relieving themselves in the bushes at a Beck concert, and though they weren't detained, they were frisked by security and let off with a warning.

The casual way Barrymore brought it up on live television left the audience roaring with laughter.

Her candid nature has always been part of her charm, but moments like these remind fans that she's unfiltered to the core.

For viewers, it was peak Drew Barrymore: a mix of spontaneity, nostalgia, and just the correct dose of chaos.
