Meghan McCain is ready for a new view!
The co-host of the daytime talk show announced her departure from “The View” on Thursday, July 1.
The conservative and often controversial co-host is ending her four-season run at the end of the month.
Meghan made the announcement on the Thursday’s show saying, “So I am just going to rip the Band-Aid off. I am here to tell all of you, my wonderful co-hosts and the viewers at home, that this is going to be my last season here at ‘The View.’”
She added, “I will still be here another month so if you want to fight a little more, we have four more weeks.”

The new mom plans to make Washington, DC, her new home after spending most of the quarantine there with her husband and newborn daughter, Liberty.
“The View” is based in New York.
Of her decision to leave the show she added, “We have this incredible life here (DC) … and I think, as any new mom knows, when I think about where I want Liberty to have her first steps, her first words, I just have this really wonderful life here that ultimately I didn’t want to leave.”
Family First!
It’s not been an easy go for the daughter of the late John McCain. Since her return to the show in January after maternity leave, McCain has bumped heads with many of her co-hosts, specifically Joy Behar.
In an on-air exchange, Behar told Meghan she “did not miss her” while she was out.
Despite the bumpy ride, PageSix reports ABC execs “begged” Meghan to stay on the show.
A Disney source revealed to the outlet that ABC desperately fought to keep her.
“ABC begged for her to stay [and] she said ‘No — I’m done! I’m not staying anymore,’” the source said.
“They even offered a contributor role on ABC News, which she turned down,” the source added. “She’s just had enough. She doesn’t need it anymore — she really doesn’t need it.”
According to the DailyMail, Meghan still had two years left in her contract, but enough was enough.
Family Affair At “The View”
Upon her return and on-air rift with Behar in January, Meghan appeared on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” and dished on their feud.
“So it’s been such a rough reentry back into The View,” she told the host. “I had a really hard time getting back to work—I thought I would be back to work by the election…It’s just been a lot.”
When addressing the rift she said, “Because whether we like it or not, I’m not going anywhere on the show, Joy’s not going anywhere on the show, we all have to live and co-exist together just like Americans right now.”
She added, the ladies of “The View” were going to try and co-exist with hopes they can continue to move forward.
Whether ABC or the other hosts of the talk show like it or not, Meghan is leaving and it appears she plans to go out with a bang!
