Former Victoria's Secret Model Calls Brand A 'Joke' After Its Rebranding

Ex-Victoria’sSecret Model, Bridget Malcolm is speaking her truth about her time as a VS model and Angel.
The former lingerie model went viral on TikTok when she exposed the brand’s harmful atmosphere and called their rebranding a “joke.”
In the TikTok video, the 29-year-old model showed off a white, lacy bra while a voice-over said, “I found my bra from the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show. It is a size 30A, I am now a size 34B which is healthy for me.”
Bridget then proceeds to put the bra on and with a disgruntled look on her face the voice-over kicks back in saying, “I was rejected from the show in 2017 by Ed Razek. He said ‘my body didn’t look good enough.’”
Razek, the former CMO of Victoria’s Secret, left the company and L Brands, VS’s parent company, in 2019 after making many controversial statements about female body image and transgender models.
During a Vogue.com interview, he was asked if VS should include transsexuals into show. Razek replied, “No. No, I don't think we should.”
When asked ‘Why not?’ he said, “Because the show is a fantasy.”
Razek’s departure came days after the lingerie brand announced its first-ever transgender model, Valentina Sampaio.

The video continues to go into more detail about the time Razek told her she didn’t look good enough.
When talking about the size 30A bra the voice-over continued, “Look how big it was on me. The sadness behind my eyes from the 2016 show breaks my heart.”
Bridget ended the video with this message, “Victoria’s Secret your performative ally ship is a joke!”
The ally ship pertains to the move Victoria’s Secret recently made from stick-thin “Angels” to a more inclusive and diverse group of models in which the company has branded the “VS Collective.”
A New Era For Victoria's Secret
The company made the announce of the “VS Collective” on June 16. Their caption read, “We are proud to announce an exciting new partnership platform, #TheVSCollective, designed to shape the future of Victoria’s Secret. These extraordinary partners, with their unique backgrounds, interests and passions will collaborate with us to create revolutionary product collections, compelling and inspiring content, new internal associate programs and rally support for causes vital to women.”
Celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas and soccer star Megan Rapinoe are among the many new faces of the brand.
