Taylor Swift In Glittery Bodysuit Asked Why She Lacks ‘Sex Appeal’

Pop star Taylor Swift is best known for her music, but she’s also known for her differing personas. During her last album, she was the chair of the Tortured Poets Department and filled her palette with lots of muted colors. She has since embraced a lot of bright colors, especially orange, for her showgirl era, after “The Life of a Showgirl” dropped on October 3. Although some fans love to see the “Anti-Hero” singer showing more skin, others have criticized the pop star and claimed that she lacks “sex appeal.

One user took to Reddit to ask others if they also felt that the singer lacked sex appeal. They included a photo wearing a glittery navy blue sports bra and cheeky sports while performing on the Eras Tour.

They followed it up with a few more Eras Tour costumes, along with a sleeveless floral dress that the “Cruel Summer” singer wore during a late-night appearance promoting her new album.

The user emphasized that they were not trying to be “rude,” but they felt that the pop star just didn’t make it “click.” They went on to say that she is “conventionally pretty” and definitely not “ugly,” but it just “doesn’t” work. They pointed to sensual songs like “Dress” and “Wildest Dreams” as proof that the singer does have a sexy side, but noted that “there’s a disconnect.”

However, they went on to say that artists like Lana Del Rey and Sabrina Carpenter, both of whom have collaborated with Taylor in the past, seem to pull off being effortlessly sexy. “What do you think causes this effect where she just doesn’t have it, but someone else like Sabrina Carpenter or Lana Del Rey do?” they asked. “It doesn’t have anything to do with actual looks imo. Thoughts?”

The top comment noted that Taylor doesn’t seem “comfortable in herself and her body” and called her “completely humorless.” They said that they found her “too rigid” and expressed that her mannerisms come off as “awkward.”

“Yeah, sex appeal is like a je ne sais quoi that can’t be quantified, but a lot of it starts with being at home in your body and knowing what gets you going,” another agreed. “She’s spent her whole life focusing on her men that I don’t think she even knows.”

Another user offered an interesting take, explaining that she is always “on” and knows she’s being watched; therefore, she isn’t able to just let herself go. “She’s too acutely aware of what people see and how she’s perceived, so she’s never able to let go to exude anything remotely genuine,” they wrote.

Other fans felt that her lack of sex appeal, especially when dancing, was actually relatable! “I cannot dance sexy for the life of me. I've tried it in front of the mirror one time and cringed,” they wrote. “I agree, there's nothing wrong with not feeling comfortable with doing that.”
