Why Nicole Kidman And Keith Urban's Daughters Are Siding With The Actress Amid Their Parents' Split

Keith Urban's marriage to Nicole Kidman may not only see them divide assets but also their children's love and support, as a source claims their two daughters have sided with their mother due to the singer's alleged "fiery" temper.

The actress has been out and about since filing for divorce in September, making show-stopping appearances at major fashion and movie events, sometimes alongside her daughters.

Keith Urban, for his part, is reportedly "embarrassed" by how the whole thing has played out and has taken steps to retreat from the public eye to let the chatter die down.

Urban's daughters with Kidman are allegedly picking sides in the former couple's broken marriage.

According to reports, the actress has been a "constant" support in their lives, while Urban's "fiery" temperament has seemingly soured their relationship.

"They love their dad, but Nicole's been the constant. She's been there for every school event, every bedtime. Keith's been touring, filming — gone," a close source told #ShutterScoop.

Urban and Kidman tied the knot in 2006 before welcoming their daughter, Sunday Rose, on July 7, 2008, and their second, Faith Margaret, two years later, on December 28, 2010. In her divorce filing, she asked to be the primary residential parent in the custody agreement.

The insider explained that the "Moulin Rouge!" actress has helped create a calming environment at home, unlike the touring singer's alleged angry outbursts.

"The girls have seen who held it all together. They feel safest with Nicole," the source shared. "Nicole has the daughters emotionally and physically. The loyalty lines are drawn — and they're standing with Mom."

The country music legend has resorted to staying out of the public eye to deal with the "embarrassment" that has trailed their split and to focus on music and work.

Amid his split from Kidman, Urban swiftly made headlines again after changing the lyrics of a Kidman-inspired song to name his touring guitarist, Maggie Baugh, sparking rumors that they were an item.

Urban is understood to be aware and uncomfortable with how the media portrays him, and would lie low until things quiet down.

"Things are just too awkward right now, and Keith just doesn't have the confidence to face all the press," an insider told Women's Day. "He's got paps hunting him down, and he's no longer taking direct calls."

"Part of him is embarrassed to show his face on a red carpet until things settle down with his divorce," the source continued.

The singer has also since shut down claims of a relationship with the guitarist, urging his fans not to read meanings into his lyric changes.

Unlike the country singer, Kidman has been out and about the public sphere and doesn't seem to be taking a break anytime soon, despite the recent heartbreak she endured.

The 58-year-old actress recently put up a united front with her daughters at Paris Fashion Week and was also spotted at the Vogue World after-party in L.A.

She has seemingly set her sights on moving on with a source telling People Magazine that she's "surrounded by the two things that matter the most to her," which are her "family and her work."

"She isn't someone who dwells on regrets — she believes everything happens for a reason," the insider explained, adding that the Oscar winner is "keeping it positive."

Part of what has been keeping the actress going is her thriving work schedule, as she reportedly has a lot in store.

Her upcoming TV projects include "Margo's Got Money Troubles," "Scarpetta," a third season of "Big Little Lies," and a sequel to "Practical Magic" with Sandra Bullock.

"She has a great attitude and feels very grateful for her life," a source told People Magazine.

They added that the actress has "several work projects coming up and is looking forward to them."

Kidman hinted at her marital issues with Urban in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, where she seemed to weigh in on the challenges of divorce.

"There's something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through," she said when asked about the best part of growing older. "You are going to have to feel it, and it's going to feel insurmountable at times. You're going to feel like you're broken, but if you move gently and slowly — and it can take an enormous amount of time — it does pass."

Earlier this month, a source told People Magazine that Kidman was "stressed" because she knew the split "would eventually become public and she was dreading it."

They added, "But she's surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it's out, she's just focused on what's ahead and her girls."
