McCarthy has been open about her weight loss journey, admitting that her outlook on health and body image has evolved significantly over the years.

The "Bridesmaid" star once revealed she tried extreme diets, including a doctor-supervised, all-liquid plan that helped her drop 75 pounds in four months.

Looking back, she told People Magazine, "I'd never do that again. I felt starved and crazy half the time."

These days, the "Ghostbusters" actress credits her transformation to a shift in mindset rather than strict dieting.

Speaking on CBS Mornings, she recalled telling herself, "Oh, for God's sake, stop worrying about it," adding that letting go of constant self-criticism was "the best thing I've ever done."

When asked about the secret behind her slimmer physique in a 2016 interview with Extra, McCarthy playfully replied, "No trick, nothing to tell, just living a super-boring life. You bring it real down, you don't do anything fun, and you go to bed at 7:30 - that's the trick."

However, changing her mindset didn't come easily for McCarthy, who has admitted to being self-critical about her body since her teenage years.

Reflecting on her younger self, she told Rolling Stone in 2017, "I thought I battled weight throughout high school, but I look back at pictures of me as a cheerleader, doing sprints, lifting weights, doing gymnastics, playing tennis, and while I wasn't reed-thin like some girls... I was a size six the entire time."

McCarthy added, "So, what on earth was I freaking out about? Like, I would kill, absolutely kill, to look like that now."

Discussing her fluctuating size over the years, McCarthy shared with Us Weekly, "I've been every size in the world. Parts of my twenties, I was in great shape, but I didn't appreciate it. If I were a six or an eight, I thought, 'Why aren't two or a four?"

Her weight began to shift after she moved to Los Angeles, where she said she gained 25 pounds from not walking and eating junk food.

"I was in good shape, then suddenly I gained 25lbs," she recalled to Rolling Stone, per Hello!. "And then after my second kid, I haven't lost any, because I've been working every day of my life."

McCarthy continued: "I could eat healthier, I could drink less. I should be learning another language and working out more, but I'm just always saying, 'Ah, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow."
