Cam Skattebo Dislocated Ankle During Contest Against Philadelphia Eagles

Since replacing veteran QB Russell Wilson with Dart, the New York Giants had been on a surprising tear, impressing teams and NFL viewers alike.

Alongside Dart, Skattebo, one of the team's bright young stars, had brought new life to the Giants' fanbase, scoring five touchdowns this season.

However, a nasty injury during the Giants' game against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles sent a wave of sadness over Lincoln Financial Field.

Skattebo, the 105th draft pick out of Arizona State University, sustained a dislocated ankle injury when he was tackled by defensive player Zack Baun.

Dart 'Devastated' About Skattebo's Injury

After the injury, some cameras captured Giants players looking downward, seemingly hoping for good news.

Another angle showcased rookie quarterback Dart having an emotional reaction, screaming, "F-ck!" repeatedly.

During the Giants' post-game conference, Dart spoke with reporters about the injury and shared how deeply it impacted him.

"Yeah, I was devastated," he said. "It's my boy, man. So seeing him go down and obviously reacting to what happened, that sucks."

The Ole Miss alum continued, "It's the worst part of this game."

Head coach Brian Daboll reacted similarly, admitting he felt "terrible" for Skattebo, 23. "Obviously, saw it. Looked bad. You feel for anybody on your team that goes down and has a really bad injury. I feel and I know the players feel the same way about Skatt."

Social Media Users React To Dart's Admission About Skattebo

Online, NFL fans shared heartwarming reactions to Dart's admission about how Skattebo's injury left him crestfallen.

"We all feel the same way, Dart," a user wrote. "You played great, but the defense, as usual, is terrible."

Another user reacted to Dart's message, calling him and Skattebo "Batman and Robin."

They continued, "... so sad to see anyone get hurt [when] they were on top of the world."

Fans of other teams also chimed in, including a Dallas Cowboys supporter who said Skattebo's injury "sucks to see."

Another Giants fan shared a stronger message, urging the team to "clean the whole house this offseason" before suggesting the team draft more receivers to take the workload off Skattebo and another injured player, Malik Nabers, who suffered an ACL injury in September 2025.

The Giants Were Investigated For Violating Protocol

While Skattebo's injury likely caused panic on the sideline, the team tried to remain calm, perhaps hoping to avoid another NFL investigation like the one launched after players and coaches were seen potentially violating concussion protocol with Dart just a week prior.

According to a previous report from The Blast, the NFL and NFL Players Association launched an investigation into the Giants' handling of Dart's potential injury, which occurred during the third quarter of their earlier contest against the Eagles.

When Dart was rushed to the medical tent on the field sideline, head coach Daboll was seen peeking into the medical area and later having a spirited conversation with the team's head doctor, Scott A. Rodeo.

After the game, Daboll addressed his actions, citing "emotions" that took over, and revealed he had apologized to Dr. Rodeo for his behavior.

Skattebo also stirred up some trouble at the time, admitting he entered the medical tent to offer support to his quarterback.

"When I was in there, he was a little fired up, but we know we have to go through protocol and do all that stuff to make sure we can get back on the field. I went in there and kind of, 'We're good, man, we've got you,' and that's it," he said.

Despite their good intentions, Daboll, Skattebo, and the Giants organization all received hefty fines totaling more than $300,000 for "conduct detrimental to the league," according to ESPN.

In an official statement, the league said that Daboll and Skattebo created a "perception that they were interfering with Dart's exam."

Although their investigation cleared them of wrongdoing, "their conduct was inconsistent with and demonstrated a disregard for the concussion protocol's requirements and therefore constituted a violation."
