Baugh's close pal, Alexandra Kay, defended her against critics and conspiracy theorists who believed she was to blame for Urban's divorce. Kay stressed that Baugh wasn't romantically involved with Urban nor had their relationship been anything but professional.

"Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say... They're like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh," Kay lamented. She noted that the speculations were "absolutely not true" because Baugh did not need Urban as a romantic partner.

Why Maggie Baugh Sparked Affair Speculations

The romance speculation began after Urban and Kidman's divorce became public. On September 29, sources confirmed the pair were no longer an item, with the "Big Little Lies" actress filing for divorce the following day.

As the world became interested in what caused the end of their 19-year marriage, a clip Baugh shared on September 27 resurfaced. The video captured her performance with Urban for the song "The Fighter," a track reportedly inspired by Kidman.

However, Urban changed the lyrics to include Baugh's name. The guitarist worsened her case by adding the caption, "Did he just say that," as some saw it as a sign of her romantic ties to Urban. Despite the affair narrative, Baugh only joined the singer's tour as a utility guitarist to cover for Natalie Stovall.

The Musician's Dating Rule Resurfaced Amid The Drama

As the public's interest in Baugh grew, The Blast reported early this month that the attention had unearthed a 2017 interview. In the throwback clip, the guitarist revealed she had a "no dating in the band" rule.

Baugh explained that she disliked relationships between bandmates because romance in the workplace went against the ethics of professionalism. She believed it would ruin the band's chemistry, particularly if the relationship ended badly.

The resurfaced video had some wondering if Baugh had broken her relationship mantra by dating Urban, despite their working relationship. The speculations became rampant, fueled by Baugh and Urban's refusal to clear the air on the status of their relationship.

While Kidman managed her heartbreak out of the public eye, The Blast reported that Urban's inner circle suspected he was experiencing a midlife crisis. According to sources, the singer's actions began raising eyebrows amongst friends as early as January.

Urban suddenly fired his longtime band, despite having performed with them for 25 years. His pals were similarly shocked by the end of his 19-year marriage to Kidman, with whom he shares two daughters. Their split occurred amid reports of the actress's desperate attempts to save their marriage.
