As Prince Andrew's reputation continues to go downhill following his scandalous involvement, the palace appears to be treating the matter as a grave offense against the Crown.

For years now, the monarchy has been plagued by the fallout from Andrew's association with Jeffrey Epstein, a connection that has severely tarnished the royal family's image.

Now, in an effort to contain the damage, the Crown is formally distancing itself from Andrew, reportedly taking a drastic step once reserved for traitors.

In a shocking move, and further stripping the disgraced royal of past recognition, Andrew’s personal banner bearing his coat of arms has been removed from its spot beside Prince William's inside St. George's Chapel.

The flag was originally hung in 2006 following Andrew’s appointment as a Knight of the Order of the Garter, a chivalric order founded in the 14th century.

PEOPLE Magazine confirmed that the banner has now been quietly removed. Traditionally, such displays are only taken down in cases of high treason or rebellion against the Crown, and this new move emphasizes the depth of Andrew's fall.

Although the 65-year-old was not formally stripped of the order, he agreed to give it up alongside his other titles.

The palace's latest move follows shortly after Andrew's announcement that he would be stepping away from all his remaining titles. In a formal statement, Andrew explained that after discussions with his family, they had collectively agreed that, given the ongoing accusations against him, it was best for him to withdraw completely from public life.

“With His Majesty's agreement, we feel I must now go a step further,” Andrew’s statement read, per The Blast. “I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

As a result, Andrew will no longer hold the title Duke of York nor retain his membership in the Order of the Garter. His honor as Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, personally granted by the late Queen Elizabeth II, has also been rescinded.

The chain of events that led to Andrew giving up his titles stemmed from his links with the convicted sex offender. Investigations exposed that the former Duke had been untruthful when he claimed his final meeting with Epstein in December 2010 was solely to end their friendship.

Evidence later showed that twelve weeks after that meeting, Andrew sent Epstein an email encouraging him.

“We are in this together and will have to rise above it,” Andrew wrote. “Otherwise, keep in close touch and we'll play some more soon!!!” He signed off, “A, HRH The Duke of York, KG.”

Further damage came with revelations in Virginia Giuffre's biography, in which she accused Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was 17, which he has consistently denied.

In the aftermath of Andrew's resignation, royal experts have analyzed the decision, highlighting that it was orchestrated by the monarchy, particularly Prince William.

According to The Blast, commentator Richard Fitzwilliams noted that William was a driving force behind the move, emphasizing his determination to safeguard the family’s reputation.

Amanda Matta suggested that the decision was not voluntary on Andrew's part. She pointed out that since he has long denied the allegations against him, it is unlikely he would have initiated the move himself.

As Andrew deals with the repercussions of his actions, his children, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have once again found themselves in the spotlight.

The Blast reported new leaked emails linked to Jeffrey Epstein, alleging that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie visited the convicted sex offender in New York after his release from prison.

Although the sisters have not addressed the claims, the reports have reignited scrutiny over the York family's lingering scandal.

Further adding to the renewed attention, Princess Beatrice recently stepped down from her trustee position at the Outward Bound charity, just weeks after her mother, Sarah Ferguson, was removed as a trustee from Julia's House.
