Cheryl Hines is officially breaking her silence on husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s alleged sexting scandal, and she isn't pulling any punches. Back in August, during an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the Emmy nominee avoided directly addressing the alleged sexting scandal. Instead, she emphasized her approach to dealing with public scrutiny alongside her husband. Now, the "Curb Your Enthusiasm" actress took a subtle jab at journalist Olivia Nuzzi, who made headlines last year for claiming her communications with the 2024 independent presidential candidate had turned "personal." Speaking on the "Katie Miller Podcast," Hines dismissed the controversy as "chaos and rumors," hinting that she doesn't buy into Nuzzi's version of events.
Cheryl Hines Questions Credibility Of Olivia Nuzzi's Claims Amid RFK Jr. Scandal

In a clip obtained by Politico Playbook, Hines shared how she approached the allegations, choosing to question the credibility of the reporter who started them. "I think you always have to consider the source, right?" she said pointedly. "So that's where I start. And then it ends with a conversation with Bobby."
The actress, who married Kennedy in 2014, went on to describe the past year and a half as "exhausting," citing the constant swirl of "headlines and rumors and chaos" surrounding her husband's campaign and personal life.
Olivia Nuzzi Claimed Her Conversations With RFK Jr. Turned 'Personal'

In September 2024, New York magazine journalist Olivia Nuzzi alleged that the "nature" of her exchanges with Kennedy had become "personal." The story quickly spiraled when The New York Post reported that the pair had allegedly been sexting, claims that were swiftly denied by Kennedy's camp.
A spokesperson for the Secretary of Health at the time said in a statement, "Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece."
Despite the denials, the scandal gained traction online, fueling speculation about Kennedy's behavior during his presidential run and placing Hines in an increasingly uncomfortable spotlight.
Cheryl Hines Calls Out Olivia Nuzzi's Intentions In RFK Jr. Sexting Scandal

In her podcast appearance, Hines didn't hold back from expressing skepticism toward Nuzzi's intentions. "I don't know this person. Don't know their intentions," she said. "I could guess, but I won't. But you can if you want."
Her remarks mark the first time Hines has directly addressed Nuzzi by name, signaling that the comedian is finally ready to reclaim her side of the story after months of silence. Though she dismissed the allegations as "more chaos and rumors," she admitted, "It was a lot."
Hines Opens Up About Marriage Drama

This isn't the first time Hines has alluded to her frustration with the media's portrayal of her marriage. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal in August, the Emmy nominee declined to rehash the drama, saying, "I don't think there's any point to going through every rumor and headline to try to defend or explain it."
She went on to explain how she and Kennedy navigate controversy together, "Bobby and I talk about everything, so that's how we move through everything. And we're really good friends, and we trust each other."
Hines added that she tries to stay grounded despite the noise, "Responding to speculation drags you into low vibrations. The trick is to try to stay in the high vibrations."
Cheryl Hines Says Her Marriage To RFK Jr. Is Unshakable

Despite the public scrutiny, Hines made it clear that her marriage to Kennedy remains strong. "One would deduce that we love each other and are still married and whatever we've been through is behind us," she quipped.
Kennedy, who joined her for the WSJ interview, echoed the sentiment, admitting that the constant controversies are impossible to control but not impossible to rise above. "There is no end, and if you get caught into responding to it, then it drags you into low vibrations," he said. "The trick is to try to stay in the high vibrations."
While all seems calm between Cheryl Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., that peace could be short-lived. Olivia Nuzzi's upcoming memoir, "American Canto," is shaping up to be one of the most explosive political tell-alls in years, and it may shatter more than reputations. Described as part confessional and part political exposé, "American Canto," a nod to "Dante's Inferno," is rumored to be packed with scandalous details and behind-the-scenes revelations that could reignite headlines Hines and Kennedy have long tried to leave behind.
"American Canto" hits shelves on December 2, 2025.
