George Clooney has given a peek into his family life, revealing that his 8-year-old son, Alexander, is essentially a "cut and paste" version of his younger self.
The actor, who welcomed Alexander and his twin sister, Ella, with his wife, Amal Clooney, in 2017, revealed that they have had to change their goals as a couple since the kids arrived.
Meanwhile, George Clooney recently revealed that he prefers to raise his children in France rather than L.A., lamenting that Hollywood makes him fear they'll never "get a fair shake at life."
George Clooney Says Son Alexander Is A 'Cut And Paste' Version Of His Younger Self

George Clooney can't stop gushing about his family dynamics 11 years after tying the knot with wife Amal Clooney. During his appearance at the "Jay Kelly" premiere at AFI Fest 2025 in L.A. on Thursday, the "Wolfs" actor spoke about his son, Alexander, whom he said is the spitting image of him as a child.
"My son looks exactly like I looked when I was his age, so it is sort of cut and paste in a way," Clooney told People Magazine. "I show him pictures of me when I was eight and he thinks they're pictures of him."
"It's pretty fun," he continued, adding that he feels "very lucky" to be able to spend time with his family as he grows older.
"I'm 64, so you look back at everything, because the looking forward is harder," he noted. "But I'm in a pretty comfortable place in life. I like what I do for a living, I have great friends, I spend time with people that I love, and I've been able and lucky enough late in life to be able to spend time with my family."
The Actor And His Wife Have Dropped Certain Activities

In his chat with People, Clooney also explained that since he welcomed his children with his human rights lawyer wife, Amal, they've had to drop certain activities to be able to be more present and involved in their lives.
"Well, you have to be careful, right? You can't just go swinging as you used to," he told the news outlet. "And Amal and I both had to change our goals on where we would go."
"I used to enjoy going to places that were dangerous. I liked going into the Nuba Mountains and Darfur, and Abyei, and there was war zones. And I found it exhilarating. And Amal was in a bunker in Beirut for two years doing the court cases," he added. "And we had to make decisions not to do that once we had kids. You had to change sort of what the rules were."
Why George Clooney Prefers Raising His Children In France

Despite Clooney's celebrity status, his children are growing up with a relatively normal upbringing as the "Ocean's Eleven" actor opened up about how he's shielding them from the overwhelming Hollywood culture.
In an interview with Esquire, the proud father said that he prefers raising his children in France than in L.A., decrying how Hollywood doesn't give them a fair "shake at life."
"You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it," he told the news outlet. "But now, for them, it's like — they're not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life."
"I was worried about raising our kids in L.A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life," he continued. "France — they kind of don't give a sh-t about fame. I don't want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don't want them being compared to somebody else's famous kids."
The Actor Says His Twins Have Completely Different Personalities

Although Clooney makes sure to keep his twins out of the public eye, he drops hints about them from time to time and has previously said they have different personalities, with Alexander being the more outgoing sibling.
In December 2023, he told "Good Morning America" anchor Michael Strahan how surprising it was for him to witness twins come of age.
At the time, the "ER" alum told Strahan, who himself is a dad to twins, that he realizes his children are "completely different human beings" despite having raised them at the same time and the same way.
"Twins tell you a lot," he said, per People. "When you have twins and you're raising [them] the same time, the same way, and they're completely different human beings, you realize how little say you have in who they are."
"You try to give them some boundaries and you try to give them things that you believe in, but they're just different," the Oscar winner shared.
"They come out with an opinion, and it's amazing to watch how different my kids' personalities are," he added.
George Clooney Plans To Prioritize His Family As His Career Winds Down

The Oscar award winner recently revealed that his focus has shifted, explaining that he is no longer interested in chasing big movie projects.
"I am not in that mad rush to succeed anymore," Clooney told Fox's Extra at the New York Film Festival, noting that his career is "winding down," so now he gets to be home with his twins more.
"I'm still young enough that I can run around with them. That is going away quickly. But I can still do it right now. So I am having a really fun time," the actor added.
Clooney further stated that the struggle of raising kids and being present in their lives isn't "just a showbiz experience," noting that people across industries tend to have similar conversations about showing up for their loved ones, especially during milestone events.
"You probably have these same conversations, and almost every industry has these conversations, which is: 'I wish I hadn't missed this thing that my kids were doing when I was working.' It is coming to terms with the sacrifice you make to succeed in any business," Clooney concluded, per The Blast.
