Meghan Markle recently gave fans a rare glimpse into her personal world with Prince Harry and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
During a relaxed speaking event near her Montecito mansion, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about her family routines, parenting methods, and the strong friendships that have shaped her life.
From early morning music to healing blankets and heartfelt traditions, Meghan revealed how she keeps her home filled with warmth, love, and a deep sense of belonging away from royal pressures.
Meghan Markle Shares What Mornings Look Like In Her Home

At the intimate Godmothers bookstore in Summerland, California, Meghan spoke candidly about her life as a mother and wife.
The 44-year-old revealed that her family's mornings always begin with music.
"First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is turn the music on in the house," she shared per the Daily Mail, describing how music helps set a joyful tone for the day.
She even takes a portable speaker when traveling so that the family can keep up the routine wherever they go.
Meghan added that she always brings a candle, too, because fragrance helps her feel grounded.
"I always travel with a candle. I am so conscious and sensitive to fragrance, and I associate that with home," she explained.
The event, held in support of her longtime friend Courtney Adamo, focused on creating happy, family-centered spaces, something that clearly reflects Meghan's daily life with Harry and their children.

During the discussion, Meghan Markle shared how she connects with her children in creative ways.
One of her favorite methods is the "rose and thorn" ritual, a simple exercise she uses to elicit more thoughtful answers from her kids.
"Our daughter, she's four and she's a very strong personality and she's incredible," the mom of two said proudly.
"And now she's in this moment where I say, 'What's your rose and your thorn?' And she goes, 'My day was just a blast.'"
The Duchess explained that it helps her children share both the good and challenging parts of their day.
Meghan also shared that her family relies on a "healing blanket," a gift from the bookstore's co-founder, Victoria Jackson, whenever one of them isn't feeling well.
The blanket has become a comforting symbol of care and togetherness inside their home.

The event also brought back fond memories for Meghan, who has been friends with Adamo for decades.
"We've been friends since college, just so you know," she told the audience, revealing that they met when they were 17.
The two women attended Northwestern University together and were in the same sorority.
The former actress reflected on their very different childhoods, saying, "She grew up on a tulip farm. I did not grow up on a tulip farm," and laughing as she recalled her own upbringing in a small Los Angeles duplex.
Their friendship has remained strong through the years, with Meghan saying she has learned so much from Adamo.
She also shared a powerful story from 2001, when the pair had planned to fly back to school in Chicago on the same day as the 9/11 attacks.
Instead, they made a 30-hour drive from Los Angeles to Chicago. That moment, Meghan explained, made her realize how community and support can bring comfort during fragile times.
Meghan Reflects On The Meaning Of Home And Safety

Speaking about that life-changing trip, Meghan Markle admitted that it helped her understand what people need during moments of fear and uncertainty.
According to the "Horrible Bosses" star, it made her realize the importance of community and what people need in moments when you want to feel safe.
"And there's no safer place that you feel than in your home," she told the crowd.
Her words matched the theme of her friend's new interior design book, "The Family Home: Inspiring Ideas For A Home Filled With Joy," which focuses on creating comfort and connection.
After the discussion, Meghan switched from guest to hostess as she invited attendees to the bookstore's patio, where she poured glasses of Sauvignon Blanc from her wine label, As Ever.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Safe Space In Montecito

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share a special connection with the Godmothers bookstore, which has become a gathering spot for close friends in their Montecito circle.
The couple attended the store's star-studded grand opening in September 2024 alongside Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Portia de Rossi.
Inside, a photo of Meghan and Harry from that event hangs near Harry's memoir, "Spare," and Meghan's children's book, "The Bench," displayed in the local authors section.
Godmothers co-founder Jackson, a longtime friend of the couple, once described the bookstore community as a space "for somebody who roots for you, supports you, and advocates for you."
She added that the Sussexes feel comfortable there, saying, "Seeing them be able to come here and be in a safe space… it's what we want it to be."
