Kim Kardashian Makes Rare Personal Admission About Marriage To Kanye West

Kim Kardashian still bears some of the consequences of marrying Kanye 'Ye' West.

The reality star got candid on how, despite ending her marriage with the rapper, she still feels the heat of his regular outbursts, which leave her in a state of mental and physical anguish, with a pressing need to shield their kids.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye 'Ye' West were married for nearly a decade and welcomed four kids together, who all currently live with the reality star, who is their primary caregiver.

The SKIMS founder revealed some harsh truths during the season 7 premiere of her family's Hulu reality show, "The Kardashians." Ye's controversial statements and character since their divorce have left her on the edge, and she is fighting to stay mentally healthy and also be there for her children.

The star confessed that whenever her estranged husband hit the ground running, all her focus shifted to ensuring their four kids stayed protected from the drama and did not have to deal with it in any way.

Kim admitted that while they will eventually discover these things on their own, it is still her immediate responsibility to stand in as a guardian whenever the claws come out.

That time came sooner than expected for the star as one of the kids found out, and in that moment, she just knew she could not stick it out for Ye anymore. 

"I always felt like I had a little bit of like Stockholm syndrome, to where I always felt really bad and always protected and always wanted to help," Kim explained, adding that the decision to take a different route left her feeling very relieved.

As reported by PEOPLE, the 45-year-old said, "As much as people think that I have the luxury of walking away and not dealing ever again, that's not my reality. This person — we have four kids together."

Kim also refuted the rumors often spread by Ye himself during his social media rants, which claimed that she kept the children away from him and would not let them spend time together.

The reality star revealed that the rapper has never asked to see their children but will wake up and spread lies on his social media.

"I can't engage all the time. It's a divorce. Not a kidnapping. We haven't left! We're in the same spot. We have the same address, so he knows where his kids are at," the reality star explained.

The beauty mogul referred to the house her estranged ex-partner once purchased, located directly across the street from hers, to further smooth their co-parenting relationship.

Kim mentioned that her parents' relationships strongly influenced how she viewed co-parenting, but to her utmost shock, Ye did not want any of that.

"But that's just what I saw from my mom, my stepdad, and my dad. I just saw the best co-parenting, the best healthy relationships. So it is what it is," the star added.

It was all roses and kisses when the pair first got together and exchanged their vows. Kim was also more than willing to work through their challenges as a couple until she could no longer bear her former partner's excessive behavior.

As shared by The Blast, Kim admitted that she left the marriage to teach her kids the need to set healthy boundaries when one's mental well-being is at stake.

The media personality stated that she had to leave the union to be a better mother for everyone, and when they are older, they will be able to understand her reasons.

Numerous deal breakers contributed to the demise of the marriage, but Ye's public criticism of Kris Jenner and her family was the straw that broke the camel's back. Since then, Kim has found it somewhat difficult to move on from the negative impact of the union on her dating life.

"There have been situations where I'll get close to someone, then it's like, 'wait, wait, wait, I don't really want to deal with your ex. I don't want to deal ifhe's going to say something,"she explained.

The Blastshared that Ye's latest documentary took a deep dive into a tumultuous period in his life between 2018 and 2024, where he dealt with pressure in his marriage and professional life. During these periods, Kris got involved in a very touching exchange with the rapper over his refusal to take his medication.

Ye insisted that he would rather die than go through another bout of being administered drugs to deal with his mental issues, adding that no one from his family is taking any responsibility for his hospital trips.

He referenced the online narrative about the state of his mental health as Kris tried to encourage him that all those side remarks do not matter except for what the family thinks.

The family matriarch assured the troubled rapper in the documentary how much the family adored him and her efforts to get Kim to love him exactly as he wants to be loved.

The mother of four shared the discovery of a scary diagnosis with viewers of their show's seventh season. Kim updated her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, that during a routine MRI scan, the doctors discovered a mild aneurysm in her brain.

She blamed the aneurysm on the aftermath of such a stressful divorce from Ye, which left Kourtney very shocked to hear such a report. Cleveland Clinic describes an aneurysm as a bulge that forms when a weak area in the artery wall allows it to expand.

Aneurysm is another of Kim's several health struggles, such as psoriasis, which she has battled for decades now, and psoriatic arthritis, which affects her skin and joints.

Due to the nature of Kim's very demanding lifestyle, she often finds herself dealing with random breakouts from time to time, for instance, during the filming of her latest movie, "All's Fair."
