Denise Richards' Estranged Husband's Official Charge Revealed After Court House Arrest

The reason behind Denise Richards' former partner’s arrest has been revealed days after the incident.

The drama began on Friday, October 17, when Aaron Phypers was taken into custody after a court hearing. He and his estranged wife have been appearing in court over her efforts to obtain a permanent restraining order against him.

Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers' marriage ended after the latter filed for divorce in July. The situation between them has since turned bitter, with the TV personality accusing her ex of physical and emotional abuse.

According to new reports, Phypers was arrested on Friday and charged with four felony charges. The list included two felony counts of injuring a spouse and two felony counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat.

For the alleged crimes, Phypers was taken into custody and given a $200,000 bail. TMZ reported that he posted bond that Friday night after enduring a brief stay behind bars. The update followed his attorney’s claims about what led to his arrest.

Phypers’ legal rep, Michael Finley, told the outlet that he was arrested on an outstanding warrant connected to Richards’ physical abuse allegations. He stressed that Phypers was not aware of the arrest warrant and accused Richards and her legal team of “setting him up.”

Before Phypers was taken into custody on felony domestic violence charges, he and Richards had clashed in court. During the permanent restraining order case, Phypers’ mother took the stand to defend him against the allegations.

She refuted Richards’ abuse claims, alleging that her son had never harmed or threatened her. Instead, Phypers’ mother accused Richards of being the violent one in their marriage, claiming that she once saw her throw a can opener at her Phypers.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Phypers immediately after the hearing, while Richards walked out confidently. Although she did not respond to reporters’ queries, she looked better than ever in an all-black ensemble featuring a leather jacket, a black top, and matching pants.

While Phypers’ mother defended him against the abuse allegations, his cousin shared a different narrative. The Blast covered the story, reporting that Kathleen McAllister had testified in Richards's favor during an October 6 hearing.

McAllister claimed that she witnessed her cousin's cruelty firsthand, recalling multiple incidents when he allegedly attacked Richards. She recalled a particularly violent episode where Phypers choked and slammed Richards’ head into a concrete wall.

"She was just really upset, in pain, disoriented. [I was] concerned she could have died," McAllister said. Additionally, she alleged Phypers' violence did not stop at Richards, claiming he threatened to kill them if they ever told anyone about his abuse.

Following the October 6 hearing, Richards took the stand to share her side of the story. The Blast reported that she addressed Phypers’ alleged erratic behavior throughout their marriage. A video played in court also captured her past comments to her ex over his behavior.

In the clip, Richards criticized Phypers for running a smear campaign against her. She highlighted the interviews he had done, where he painted her as the villain in their separation. She expressed disappointment, declaring that life with her first ex-husband was heaven compared to her second marriage.

"Things were bad with Charlie Sheen and I, but he never hit below the belt,” Richards said. She confessed that she never expected Phypers to become her biggest regret and worst nightmare, doubling down on her physical abuse allegations.

Before his arrest, The Blast shared that Phypers wanted a piece of Richards’ OnlyFans pie. He argued in court documents that he was entitled to a part of her profit because he took the photographs she uploaded.

Phypers believed Richards earned approximately $200,000 to $300,000 monthly from the pictures and implored the court for his share. He stressed that he was in a financial crisis because his estranged wife had locked him out of their joint accounts.

According to Phypers, he desperately needed his cut from Richards’ explicit platform earnings to survive. He noted that he needed the money to cover basic living expenses, such as rent and utilities.
