Bell is under fire over an anniversary post many of her fans found "insensitive." The actress, 45, shared a photo of herself and her husband, Dax Shepard, on Instagram Saturday to mark their 12th wedding anniversary.

In her caption, Bell wrote: "Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: 'I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.'"

The remark quickly sparked criticism, with many fans saying the comment was in poor taste, especially since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Fans Rip Kristen Bell Over 'Insensitive' Post

Fans of the "Veronica Mars" actress quickly called her out over the post, with many branding it "tasteless" and "insensitive"

One fan commented, "That's a wildly sad and insensitive thing to say considering it's domestic violence awareness month and thousands of women have died at the hands of the man they trusted."

Another added, "Kristen, there's no way you posted this during domestic violence month."

"'Domestic violence isn't a joke. Domestic violence and violence against women aren't jokes, Kristen," a third chimed in.

One more person shared, "Happy anniversary, I guess? Bragging about not being murdered by your husband isn't cute..... it is a sad reflection of how low the bar is... Maybe reflect on that instead of disabling comments to dodge the heat."

Just a day before the controversy, Bell had a lighthearted moment on the red carpet while promoting season two of her Netflix series "Nobody Wants This."

During an Entertainment Tonight interview, a reporter hinted, "Tomorrow, Friday, is…," prompting Bell to confidently reply, "The beginning of the weekend!"

After a brief pause, she guessed again, "What is it? The 17th… the Wrexham Charity Gala?"

Moments later, realization hit her. "Oh my God, it's my anniversary! You know, I never remember that. I'm so glad you told me!"

"The Good Place" actress laughed it off, admitting that forgetfulness runs both ways in their marriage.

"It helps that he doesn't remember either," she joked. "No one's at fault here. We're just not great with dates."

Bell added that Shepard was "at home watching our children" while she attended the event, but wasn't sure if he had anything special planned.

"I don't know if making mac and cheese counts as prepping for the anniversary," she said playfully. "But we are having a date night tomorrow, so we can celebrate."

Bell revealed that their plans include joining fellow Hollywood couple Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson at the Wrexham AFC Foundation Gala.

"It's about bringing kids together through sports," she explained. "We're going to that, so we will actually have a date night tomorrow."

Later in the conversation, the "Frozen" actress opened up about what she believes makes a marriage last, emphasizing the importance of embracing vulnerability.

"Sitting in discomfort, because vulnerability is uncomfortable," she said, is one of the most important parts of a relationship.

She continued, "It's hard to say what your needs are. It's hard to say, 'You hurt my feelings, and here's why.' It's also even harder to say, 'I hurt your feelings, and here's why.' So sitting in the uncomfortable feelings and realizing that just like anything — cooking a great meal, going to the gym and getting a six-pack, whatever it is — those things take hard work, and relationships are no different."

Speaking at the inaugural Televerse event in Los Angeles in August, Bell revealed that her husband had an unexpectedly enthusiastic reaction to her on-screen kiss with actor Adam Brody, even celebrating the moment with his friends.

"House of Lies" star recalled that Shepard, 50, was on an off-roading trip when Netflix released the show's first season. Despite being miles away, he made sure to tune in and even sent her a voice memo reacting to the now-viral scene.

Bell said she could hear Shepard and his friends cheering and shouting "Oh my God!" in the background as her character, Joanne, finally kissed Brody's Noah. Reflecting on his reaction, the actress said it showed just how emotionally invested her husband was in the on-screen romance.

In the much-talked-about scene, Noah asks Joanne to drop her ice cream and bag so he can kiss her, a moment both Brody and Bell admitted made them nervous, as the script described it as "the world's greatest kiss."
