2008 must have been a tough year for both Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. That was the year that she entered her court-ordered conservatorship. It lasted for about 13 years before it was finally struck down by a judge in November 2021. While the “Toxic” singer’s mental health has come into question time and time again in the years since, her ex-husband, and father of her two children, is doing her absolutely no favors by releasing a “memoir” about his experiences with the Princess of Pop.

Kevin Federline’s Memoir Is A Weapon Against Britney Spears, Not A Memoir

Sons Sean Preston, now 20, and Jayden James, now 19, have had their ups and downs with their mother over the years, but that might change given the disturbing allegations that K-Fed has released in his upcoming memoir. He calls it sharing his side of the story, but on the surface, it appears to be nothing more than a desperate cash grab now that his child support has ended.

In his new book, he alleges that Britney drank alcohol while pregnant with her two sons and once even did cocaine while trying to breastfeed their children. “I had seen it before, her drinking and breastfeeding, and it was really upsetting because of the danger to the kids,” he wrote.

Is K-Fed’s Memoir Too Little Too Late?

The problem with these details is that they are salacious in nature. Every single headline that has emerged from his memoir so far has painted Britney in a bad light. Maybe she did drink while pregnant. Maybe she didn’t. Bringing up problems that occurred in 2008, close to twenty years later, only serves to humiliate her, even when he claims that he is releasing this memoir to “help” her.

When speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Kevin said, “I’m really worried,” adding, “I'm absolutely, as a father, terrified that one day I might wake up and my sons are going to deal with the unimaginable. I kind of have to sound the alarm that I truly feel that somehow, some way, I just wish that their mom would get help.”

The problem is that most of the salacious stories from his memoir happened when the children were much younger and don’t address Britney’s troubles in the present.

There Are Two Sides To Every Story

In his memoir, Kevin addresses seeing Britney in a straitjacket amid her 5150 in 2008. In his view, he sent his security guard, Lonnie, to pick up his two sons. Britney supposedly handed over Preston, but then locked herself in the bathroom with Jayden, who was just over a year old at the time.

“When they finally got her out of that bathroom, it was dark outside. They brought her out on a gurney, strapped down, wearing a d-mn straitjacket. The image of her being wheeled out like that, completely out of it, haunted me,” he wrote, adding that Britney was “incoherent” when the police finally retrieved Jayden.

Meanwhile, in her own memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Britney says that she became “terrified” that she would never see her sons again due to their ongoing custody battle, which led to her decision to retreat into the bathroom with Jayden.

“I ran into the bathroom with Jayden and locked the door — I just couldn’t let him go. I didn’t want anyone taking my baby,” she wrote, adding that she was “feeling desperate to keep my own children for a few more hours” when a SWAT team burst through the door and took Jayden from her.

Someone Tell Kevin Federline There's Such A Thing As Too Much Information

TMZ was one of the first outlets to cover one of the most salacious narratives from the book, in which Kevin describes in some pretty vivid detail his first sexual encounter with the “Gimme More” singer, which just so happened on the night they met. He described how Britney invited him to join her group for a swim at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where he had “a bungalow with a private pool and hot tub.”

"Then, while everyone was still swimming, Britney got out of the hot tub, grabbed my arm, and led me into the bungalow. Everyone else must have got the message and eventually left. I wasn't worried about anyone else, though,” he said, describing how she "turned around, slipped off her underwear and started kissing" him.

Considering Kevin admits that he was “just thinking about smashing” Britney when they first met, it’s pretty clear why he added this section to the book. Between the allegations of her drug use, her sexual activity, and his allegations that she was “full-on making out” with a female dancer while on tour in Amsterdam, he’s trying to paint Britney as a party girl who has no business being a mother.

Britney Spears Is Right: 'You Don't Help Them By Humiliating Them'

In a lengthy post on X, the “Crossroads” actress lamented how she is “always being threatened or made to believe I'm the bad one as they profit off my pain.”

“If you really love someone then you don’t help them by humiliating them,” she wrote. “What scared me was how serious and angry he got, people have no idea, it is way worse than anyone could imagine… the boy hates me and it is deep anger to literally say the things he is saying.”

She also expressed fear that “his book will sell loads more than mine” based on the salacious nature of his allegations, but thanked fans for their support, writing, “And thank you to the people supporting my heart right now I know you guys understand it hurts.”
